Could anybody tell me if we received anything for the Leon Best transfer to Blackburn?

SISU could. It will be undisclosed.

Can't see he ever did anything wrong up there ,may have had a few injuries ,but his biggest obstacle would have been created through management change ,and increased funding policy .Did well when called on .

The answer is because he's horribly inconsistent and intermittently lazy.[/QUOTE

Think the antipathy was a two way street ,never totally committed to us ,a commodity being moved around without real loyalty ,as emphasised by his desire for a swift move to Notts Forrest.

He will be back in the Premiership anyway next season, when Bllackburn go up as Champions.
I rate Best very highly, almost unplayable on his day, and their arnt that many players you can say that about who have played for us lately.

Just my opinion

I'll never understand the 'lazy' jibe directed at Best. To my eye he worked his bollocks off time and time again.

I suppose you are one of those educated supporters that prefers a trier to an achiever. Sean Flynn over Darren huckerby or robbie Simpson over Jordan Henderson, good player Best.

I suppose you're one of those educated posters that likes to use comparisons that you incorrectly assume I'd make.

Best was very often unmotivated to the point of embarrassment.

I'm not suggesting he's a poor player, my opinion is that his attitude has affected his altitude. Championship will probably do him good...

He was too like Jay Boothroyd for my liking. Had the talent but failed to show it on the big stage. It did look at one point that he might get a chance when Carroll left and he stepped it up temporarily, but for Pardew to need to bring in two extra strikers suggests he didn't rate Best at the top level. One expects his arrogance may have also played a part in that

Best was a decent player for us, I didn't think he would do as well as he did at Newcastle. He was a very selfish player, particularly towards the end of his Cov career.

Yea if Pardew has ambitions to consistently play in Europe then he didn't rate him at that level, I don't think it means he didn't rate him as a mid to lower end premiership player.

Is this the 'lazy' Leon Best that collapsed with exhaustion at the end of one match?

Inconsistent I'll give you, selfish possibly, but lazy? No way.

Good player, yet another in a long line of good players our supporters booed because he didn't run around like a headless chicken.

We never really knew for certain what fee we got for Best when he left anything from £250k to a million i believe.

He wasn't a lazy player, he was screamed at by the type of person that wants to see the forward track back to their own goal line in the name of 'passion' and then bemoans the fact there's no outlet a few seconds later.

The comparison to Jay Bothroyd is valid.

Oh, except for the fact that Jay Bothroyd is playing in the Premiership....mainly because he rolled his sleeves up with Cardiff and got noticed.

Best-Injury prone and frustrating as feck. A liability when you're picking a team-you need to be consistent in the Premiership. That's why he isn't playing for a team that resides there.
