"New #CCFC story to come from me today about council/Sisu "talks" over a return to the Ricoh. Watch this space. #pusb"

Don't like the word "talks" being in quotation marks...

No.

Although tbh am kind of uncomfortable about talking about talks. Would rather it's all kept behind closed doors until the two parties have something official to say.

Still get this horrible feeling the council needed to partake in talks to help weaken the JR.

Didn't CWR report on the day they understood that no further meeting had been arranged.
So it was probably Ann introducing herself, Seppala giving her demands, Ann not giving in to her then being asked to leave. I.e. No progress.

Unless it's a story that all talks are off or that a deal has been done I'd rather there was nothing reported at all. You never know what little thing could cause an issue so unless it's 100% one way or the other better for everyone, including the press, to keep quiet.

The Council have said they still want CCFC at the Ricoh as Tennants.

Neither council leader Ann Lucas or Joy Seppala, Coventry City’s hedge fund owner’s Sisu’s boss, are willing to disclose any details of their private talks nearly a fortnight ago - or say whether the two are still in communication.

That's the only bit that matters.

And that's how it should be, really.

Reading the article I'm surprised if anyone thought that a meeting between the two would raise hope of a return.
Sisu have said they'll only go back as owners, council don't want to sell so its a stalemate.

That is possibly the worst story that's been in the CT and that's saying something.

To sum up Les Reid announces on twitter theres "New #CCFC story to come from me today" then claims "BREAKING: Coventry council bosses still want #CCFC back at Ricoh as tenants not owners, after 'talks'"

But if you actually look past the headline and read the article it turns out he's just reporting based on what he's heard on a fans podcast, so not breaking at all more like recycled. The key paragraph "Neither council leader Ann Lucas or Joy Seppala, Coventry City’s hedge fund owner’s Sisu’s boss, are willing to disclose any details of their private talks nearly a fortnight ago - or say whether the two are still in communication.".

This interests me:

Mr Powell told listeners Mr Reeves had said his goal was to “get the club back in the city”, adding: “He sees it as a building block in terms of getting the club back in on a rental deal leading to a sale of the freehold if it’s there to be sold.”

So basically what the Council are saying is that they want SISU to show guarantees before it sells the freehold, you would think this sounds fair enough and after the way the Ricoh rental situation has been dealt with by SISU over the last few years very plausable as well.

Maybe, but after the shit SISU put ACL/CCC through with witholding the rent for a year, I think it's fair.

I think that's dependant on SISU though is it not, "if" SISU can show they are willing to be co-operative in this situation then a freehold sale may happen, but like I said after the witholding of the rent and then playing this game of moving the club to Northampton, did you expect CCC to just say "take it"?

It's the Council Chief Executive saying "if it's there to be sold". I'd say that's 'if' regardless of anything else. A plain and simple if, nothing to do with Sisu.
As for expecting the council to say "take it", of course not.

Actually forget it all. I've re-read it and it's not a direct quote of what he said. So it's irrelevent.

We all know Martin Reeves doesn't have that power to say yes it can be sold or no it can't be sold, he cn't flatly refuse or confirm Hill.

If Coun Leader Lucas never confirmed whether they'd sell the Ricoh's Freehold to SISU, Martin Reeves who we have previously discovered doesn't have the power to negotiate a deal with Joy won't go above Coun Leader's head and say it will, it's nothing that I didn't expect. If Reeves say's "Yes we can sell" then wouldn't that be going above his position and further more above Coun Leader Lucas??

No point in selling the freehold if SISU can then just liquidate the club following the sale. I can see the comments now about this "The debts are too high and the owners are unable to 'invest' any more.....the club cannot realistically continue as a going concern.....we had passed the tipping point and insolvent liquidation could not be avoided.......have appointed Paul Appleton as liquidator" Would defeat the point of getting the club back in Coventry.

I agree and have been saying for sometime that trust needs built back up by SISU before the council are going to trust them enough to sell them the freehold.

It's not a misquote, it's a "Guess what my mate heard down the pub". The fact that Reid writes an article on it is embarrassing TBH.

Something a rental deal over say 5 years may achieve. It's a guess I know, but it's what I'd be looking for if I were the Council and ACL.

And it's what the council were looking for well before the rental deal when Sisu thinking of buying the Ricoh last time. Mutton said he wanted proof they give a shit about the club. The usual suspects on here went mental that the council dare do that and who do they think they are.

But again IT'S A FUCKING PODCAST! It's up there with bog wall graffiti in terms of reliable sources.

Sadly I fear stubbornness may preclude a rent deal, but I seriously hope I'm wrong.

Agreed. As we have seen with SISU they want things their way. I know short term it sounds pants, but if SISU showed some trust and commitment to everyone involved they might also gain something else on the way while purchasing the Freehold, something that can't be purchased, respect.

You've missed my original point, which I've also said is irrelevent now anyway as it's not a direct quote. It's total twaddle.
Basically I was reading the 'if' as a plain and simple if. Where as others have invented a epic tale about testing the waters and getting Sisu to prove themselves. Something I believe should happen by the way, but is still made up.

at the end of the day the club doesn't need to own the freehold, the club needs to own the leasehold giving them access to the income streams. its sh1tsu that need the freehold. people need to remember this when judging all parties involved in this.
