Not read all this thread, but is this not a bit of a non story?

Nothing has been said about the talks, publically they are both still talking (we have yet to hear otherwise), all Martin Reeves has done has said what he would like to see (as an unelected officer his opinion is worth nothing anyway), and also he reaffirmed that the Council generally don't generally sell Freeholds (something that we already knew and is a world apart from the Freehold isn't for sale under any circumstances).

Perhaps it is just a 'FUCKING PODCAST' however what's to say that the information in it isn't reliable?

Have a listen to the podcast. The 2 guys who were at the meeting struggle to recall what was actually said and then guess at what some comments mean. They make it clear it's guesswork so fair play to them.

Les should have just pointed people to the podcast really without any "headline" IMO

Haven't listened to this weeks podcast yet so can't really comment on what's in that but isn't their a big flaw in taking anything from a conversation with Reeves and West. As we know from before Reeves and West, who are both board members at ACL, are not in a position to discuss the sale of the freehold. Remember Fisher (think it was him might have been someone else from SISU) complaining that there was a meeting where they wanted to discuss the freehold but only Reeves and West were sent along and they don't have any power to discuss that side of things.

The article also quotes an unnamed council spokesman as saying "It was made clear to them that nothing confidential could be shared with them and Martin Reeves and Chris West could only speak on behalf of the council and not on behalf of all ACL shareholders". So the people spoken to could talk about things from a leasehold (ACL) perspective and could not talk about things from a freehold (CCC) perspective so it's hardly surprising that no new information has come to light.

It's also stated, by the same spokesman, that nothing talked about in Ann and Joys meeting would be made public which can only be a good thing. if talks had fallen at the first hurdle I'm sure we would have heard something from one side at least by now.

So the upshot of the story appears to be the suggestion that SISU return as tenants whilst talks about the freehold continue. That to me would be pretty positive news so why have the telegraph decided to give it such a negative spin?

If PWKH had done a podcast Schmee would have genuflected over it.

Yes it was hardly an exclusive was it, just the considered opinions of a couple of fans who had held an informal chat with a couple of ACL people. Strip away the dramatic headline, what actually new have we learned? How many times over the past few months has Les Reid broken a 'breaking news scoop re Brandon', and for what??? Brandon was never a serious runner, even if you believed the SISU spin about building a new stadium.

ooooor theya re saying we want ccfc back asap and then keep leading them on a giant goose chase everytime they try to buy the club.

They need to try harder.
You need to tell us what Sisu offered in their efforts to buy the club, if you can.

I'm waiting .......... ?

I would like Les to request another interview with JS or TF
And go through the financial validity of the plan to build a new stadium against securing a long term rent deal.

If he did this he would get full credit for genuine investigative journalism

when he was getting some stick for giving Joy an easy ride didn't he say something about future interviews or have I imagined that?

there's some very obvious questions that need to be asked of Joy and / or Tim but neither the Telegraph or CWR seem up to the job. How difficult can it be to push them for an answer on why they need to own the freehold and what advantage it is to CCFC and as you say dig a bit deeper into the new stadium

Everyone seems scared of upsetting them in case they don't get future interviews.

However one meaty interview is better than 10 lame ones that don't delve beyond the surface.

Les Reid prooves yet again that he is nothing but a second rate journo seeking more attention. :jerkit:

As I've said before, Les Reid proving how inept he actually is in getting off his arse and doing some journalism work himself, thinks he is above it. Wish he would fuck off and leave the people concerned to try and thrash a deal out because the buffoon that is Fisher sees things like this and wades in with see I told you so, believe me, they don't want the club to go forward when nothing has actually been decided.

I think LR has written some decent stuff but it has become about him rather than the issue, he's a bit like that journalist in the Scream film (not movie) series if you like.

The fact is that in serious negotiation it appears neither party are willing to divulge, fair enough. Let them get on with it for fucks sake.

You've missed my original point, which I've also said is irrelevent now anyway as it's not a direct quote. It's total twaddle.
Basically I was reading the 'if' as a plain and simple if. Where as others have invented a epic tale about testing the waters and getting Sisu to prove themselves. Something I believe should happen by the way, but is still made up.

Sorry I didn't mean to include your post in mine, I just hit the reply with quote instead of the reply (was on my mobile and it's easy to do). I've removed it now.

I think they should thrash out a rent deal first. 3-5 years (or possibly 10 years with the option to cancel after 5 to satisfy FL). Get the club back in Coventry first! Surely this is the best for both sides?

Then a sale of the freehold can be discussed. If it falls through and they want to build their own stadium that is fine, at least we will be playing in Coventry whilst it is being built!

We could be playing in Coventry in the mean time, and everybody knows where they stand! Sorted...?

Of course I am talking about "simple land" which appears to be an undiscovered planet at the moment.
