Lets help TM find a Replacement for Reda (1 Viewer)

Does anyone out there have any SENSIBLE suggestions for a replacement for Reda at Centre-Half.

A Premier League player who is not getting a look in? (Similar to the Joe Cole situation at Villa) or a Championship player maybe or what about a Chris Stokes type Lower League player?

We need someone with a reason to want to come as we cant tempt them with a mega-bucks pay packet so any suggestions need to bear this in mind.

Experienced player needed, but not too old. My worry win Cole like signing would be the fitness issue. We've already seen in the short time he's been here he can't be available every game. We need someone who can come in and stay in.

id be happy with either of the above mentioned players, but can't see either coming.

At 5ft 11in is a bit on the short side given our vulnerability to the big ball, crosses and set pieces.

Especially as Jordan clarke is 6 foot!

Was looking at some of our ex-defenders on wiki to see if there was anyone who might be likely to come back. This gem is on Martin Cranie's page:

On 12 August 2009, Portsmouth agreed to sell Cranie to Coventry City for a mars bar and a bag of skittles.

Greg Halford - Rotherham
Elliott Ward - Bournemouth
Ben Gibson, Rhys Williams, Jonathan Woodgate - all on the fringe at Middlesbrough
Gabriel Tamas - Cardiff
Connor Goldson - Brighton
Matthew Kilgallon - Blackburn
Shane Lowry - Birmingham

Just throwing some other names out there who aren't getting games at Championship teams. All of them have good football league experience.

Might be wise to take a free agent for 6months rather than add another loan. We must be close to having to leave players out of the match day squad due to loan quotas?

Jonathan Woodgate at Middlesboro is a good call - with the TM connection at Boro this might be worth a shot.

I think I'd rather leave him to it.

Harry Maquire, is the best ,but to near to hulls first team so no chance, but Ive been told that Dan Burn of Fulham could be available at 6ft 5in tall can head the ball great.

Look, I am all for giving Reda someone to talk to whilst he is in rehab, but I would rather we find a defender that is actually going to play some games!

Firstly, there has been alot of people on here and elsewhere who bemoaned Reda and said he is a liability, maybe now they see how important he is to the side and to the style of play TM wishes to use. One player, obviously doesn't make a team but you can see his quality just by the fact we are discussing this issue and the 'names' of the replacement shows his importance.

even though he's getting on a bit Ian Evatt from Chesterfield would be good & a chance for a cov kid to play for his hometown club

We are still unbeaten in the league without Johnson.

A loss as we are down on defenders. Irreplaceable? Definitely not and if that was the case it's poor squad assembley to rely on someone who is always missing at least half the season.

We should have spent the money on someone else and released him

And I think had Chris Anderson been around he might have made that suggestion to TM.

This will all come down to money which is why we are "struggling" to bring someone in but something will happen today because it's Thursday
