Watch it torchy will get jealous, youre not aloud to say Coventry kid etc.
Torch you could not 100% say u would not go until the circumstances happened.
Only then would you truly know
I just don't understand why he spits his dummy out when I say that if ccfc dies then a phoenix team will be supported by a lot of people from Coventry.
Is it ao hard to understand that as a Coventry kid i want to watch a Coventry team in Coventry?
I wouldn't expect him or other people like him to back it as the only ties they have to the city would be severed if the old ccfc died.
Is this so hard to understand ffs.
Ah look, our own little Nick Griffin is getting all precious. I've got no problem with "Coventry Kid" or anyone from Coventry. Just xenophobes like you who don't think "outsiders" should support their team. It's so 1970s.
Do you think then that only players from Coventry should wear the shirt?
But you're not saying that, if you were then fine. You're saying that as I'm not a "Coventry Kid" then the phoenix team would be meaningless to me as I don't have any "ties" with the City. It's there in black and white, so don't lie or backtrack. If you want to be a xenophobe then at least stick by your convictions and be a proud xenophobe.
You've said yourself that you wouldn't be interested. As a Coventry kid i would.
But you don't have to be a "Coventry kid" to be interested. I wouldn't but plenty of others would. And, it's not difficult to work out from our crowds over the year, many thousands of others in Coventry wouldn't be interested either.
Why's it shit?
If you can't understand where im coming from then you're more stupid than i thought.
You have no idea of the crowd figures that a phoenix team would attract. It would be a team playing in Coventry with the city's name and rid of sisu, , that'll do for me.
It's more than you'd have.
I think you're over estimating the level of support. Where was this demonstration of fantastic loyalty from the people of Coventry when the team was relegated, firstly from the Premier League and then from the Championship?
That's me speaking as a Coventry kid born and bred. I wouldn't have much interest in a phoenix club as I support Coventry City.

If a new club bought the history and the name then I'd be up for it. The current club would have to be completely gone though.
I was totally out of order last night,my behaviour was uncalled for. Im sorry for any insults that came from my end.

Decline in attendances would happen at most club's after a relegation though.
Maybe i am overestimating a phoenix club, im sure if it was a success then people would drift towards it.
It would be a new ccfc for me, I know someone who supports afc Wimbledon and he says it feels exactly the same as the old club.
Is it all only a name anyway ?
Were Coventry City once CCFC Ltd and are now Otium?
Does history have to transfer with ownership can't it transfer with the fans instead?
Does history follow the golden share as it could have gone anywhere during the administration process?
Does history follow location if so does a phoenix club in Coventry hold the banner?

If the history doesn't transfer by default it stays with the 'old' club. The club would still exist, so I'd be supporting that club. Coventry City.
If Coventry City didn't exist anymore at all and a new club started without the history it wouldn't mean anything to me. Might as well be Cov United.
If a new club drew on Coventry's history in some way - say Coventry Bantams/ Singers and played in skyblue at the Ricoh-- might make it more acceptable.
Might also keep the lawyers busy..again'..I guess (?)
FC Cvventry would do for me, no need for singers or anything else tagged on.
Still not the same team is it? Coventry sphinx play in sky blue, doesn't mean a thing.
I used to have a drink at half time at the Ricoh with my old man and a couple of others one of whom was a chap who was nearly 80. I think he'd been following the city for almost 70 years. Because of his age and his beliefs he doesn't attend sixfields.
I bumped into to him at the legends game earlier this season and he was talking to me about how he might not see ccfc ever play in Coventry again,he was quite tearfull.
What do you say to someone in his position?
Well done tim. What a fantastic job you've done.
it is a disgrace that some old timers might never get the chance to watch CCFC again.
It's amazing really how they have detached the fans from the club,
I wonder if they realised it would become this bad. If it bothers them that is has it if they do not give a stuff?
That's basically what he was saying that he knows his time could be up any day and he might never get the chance to see his team again. I suppose when you get to that age you don't know how long you've got left.
Its very sad all this at the moment.
But for all those people on here who say that football is in their blood as is Coventry City, If say a phoenix team sprouted and took the name Coventry 1883 FC and progressed quickly and 4/5 years got to League 1/2, would you not be interested in having a look. If they hit a cup run and it felt like it did before at a top away day, would the bug not return? Besides, it would be a team from Coventry, playing in Coventry wearing Sky Blue. I know it is hard to think about because at present we still have a team, but could people lose the bug that easily about a team for the city, representing the City. I love Coventry City FC but I also love the fact it is (or was) a Saturday with mates watching football.
I'd go for the craic but would never have the same feeling towards this new club...
You've said yourself that you wouldn't be interested. As a Coventry kid i would.
But just say you did it a few times and the old feelings of excitement started to re-surface, we've been to lots of away days together and would they be any different to one say in 5 years. Sometimes it doesn't feel any different now to what it did 15-20 years ago and I've no doubt it'll be no different in 20 years time. If our City's football clubs name changed, we are still the same, do the same things and some even wear the same clothes as they did 30 years ago, take F----e for instance, love the man to death but time warp springs to mind.
