To me it's simple, for their to be a Phoenix club one of two things has to happen. Either the existing club ceases to exist or the FL announce the existing club are moving somewhere other than Coventry permanently.

You can't have a phoenix club while we're still in existence, of course that all becomes a grey area if the club move back to a new stadium but not in Coventry. In reality you'll just end up with a split between people who will go and those who won't, I would doubt under those circumstances there would really be enough support for a phoenix club at least not of the scale of something Wimbledon have done.

Coventry City is about the fans. If all fans (or majority at least) took this option and a new club was formed with the old club either gone or permanently moved, then it would be a continuation a la AFC Wimbledon. Official name is irrelevant quite frankly. History is what you make it. If you all saw your club win the FA Cup in 1987, etc then that is still yours and no-one can take that away.

Agree with all this. I think if ccfc moved somewhere just outside Coventry we would end up with an FC United type/size club being formed with those that no longer see it as a Coventry club. As you say, bit of a grey area that one.

no3-5m trips outside city limit etc. i would be prepared for a phoenix club in that case persoanlly.

A phoenix club in Coventry - playing at the Ricoh - would be an excellent opportunity for disillusioned fans to take control of a football club at a realistically low level and then build things up. We could have real "ownership" (in every sense of the word) of what would quickly become Coventry's best football team. A fee based membership scheme with voting rights would ensure that no spivs or hedge funds could ever control Coventry's top club again. It would be a very positive and rewarding experience for all concerned.

Football in general should be doing this sort of thing for the greater good of the game. Otherwise, all you get is half a dozen Premier teams (if that many) who will maintain a stranglehold on the English game forever more, with their Arab/Russian/American/Far East money.

Anyway, I think if Cov are not back at the Ricoh at the start of next season, then emotionally many of the fans will have had enough and some of them will be actively looking at phoenix scenarios.

I find it harder to get excited by the city these days. In years gone by a loss put me in a mood for the rest of the day but I'm almost indifferent to it now. I just feel sad thinking this is the 1st season in 20 I haven't been to a game.

I totally agree about not supporting a phoenix club while there's still a chance of the real CCFC returning home.

I don't really care any more. I just like coming on here, making inane posts and sneaking off again. Now and again I'll check to see how CCFC are doing, but if the truth be known, I gave up on them ages ago. I haven't been to a City match for ages (due to my location), but I now get my footy fix from my local non-league club, Newport IOW. Haven't missed a home match yet!

My problem is I work every Sat and till 6 in the week, so the night games at the Ricoh were my only chance to go up an watch my team ( first game in 79 and season ticket holder till work took over) and take my 12 year son, who used to go every Sat with his nan, but it was our time watching our team. He now go's up the rugby with his uncle and doesn't even listen to the radio anymore. He used to phone me at work to tell me the scores but no more so I have to wait till I finish work to get the score.

I don't know if he will go and watch the city again and this is the worry that the next generation of fans will basically just fuck off and never be Interested in ccfc. I fear for my club but as every week goes by without watching them I'm becoming a little more dis interested . Even when i meet up with my mates from school for a beer no one hardly mentions the city

I know people are in the main against any alternative club to our beloved Sky Blues, but if Joy, Tim et al are happy to string along the supporters and our club to a long lingering death (while they go through a prolonged series of courtroom battles), I think the most effective means of forcing their hand is to seize the initiative by hijacking the Ricoh with an alternative team (or at least the threat of). If SISU are prepared to wait another couple of years at Sixfields, which will end with probable relegation, as they further cost cut and players, Pressley departs - then I would sooner be part of a proactive response that might hasten their departure than let these heartless ****s dictate the agenda unopposed. The alternative team (or threat of) is a means to an end, nothing else GGGrrrrrrrr - just my opinion :thinking about:

Potentially 600 of that could be unused tickets.

So it could actually be as less as 800.

I am guessing more likely that it is somewhere on the middle just above 1000!
