Bradford city will consider a lifetime ban for a supporter who allegedly made racist comments towards a reading player .
How do you feel about this ?
Ofcourse the offender should be punished .. but does an idiotic comment deserve what is effectively a 50-60 year ban .
Im on the fence in regards to the severity of the punishment , but i do believe racism needs kicking out . I also believe in second chances though and think a 3-4 year ban and a hefty police fine is a worthy punishment .
Whats your opinion on this matter
Very much agreeYeah, i think on the surface that lifetime is a bit OTT, but I guess it depends on what he said and whether he has previous history.
Certainly should be 3 year ban minimum. There is no place for racism in football or anywhere else to my mind.
Once a racist always a racist, which means you are a racist for life. Nothing will change your views so a life time ban seems fair to me. I'm Irish and see all sorts of shit written and said about the Irish. I hate it but have to put up with it because being Irish, I'm "white". Doesn't seem to be racist to some people somehow.
By the way,
Couple of things with this. First of all it depends on what they said and in what context. Secondly what evidence is there to support the allegation. Is it one persons word against another or did many people hear the comments? Thirdly people do change, and people can say stupid things that they don't really mean in the heat of the moment.
I think with cases like this there are too many variables to have a blanket ruling. If there is evidence against him then surely a few years ban is enough?
Also something I can never understand is its rightly unacceptable to make offensive remarks about someone's race at a football match, yet it seems perfectly acceptable to make offensive remarks about someone's weight or height. When is that going to change?
Finally, I have to point this out. The person didn't make a "Racist" comment, they made a "Racial" comment. There is a world of difference between those two things but that seems to have been forgotten in recent years.
Do we know this for sure if we don't actually know what was said?
Which bit?
Whether it was racial or racist.
Wouldn't we only know that if we knew what was said and we don't know what was said do we?
Well not really. In the true sense of the word there is no such thing as a racist comment, it would be a racial comment.
Racism is a form of discrimination. From what we know about this incident, is that somebody dished out verbal abuse, and verbal abuse isn't a form of discrimination.
What we allegedly have here is verbal racial abuse.
Okay. Understand what you mean now. That doesn't make it any better though does it.

.
The fact you cannot understand the difference says an awful lot.
Care to explain why then oracle?
Well for a start I think you do understand and you are just being disengenuous.
It's pretty obvious that insulting someone for the colour of their skin is significantly more offensive then saying someone is a fatty.
You know this already though.
Why is it obvious?
Your still taking a physical aspect of a person and using it as an insult.
Making fun of someone's weight could be deeply upsetting.
The person in question can lose weight then can't they?
Somewhat less offensive then suggesting separatism and inferiority due to skin colour - as you know.
So the person has to change their appearance in order to avoid abuse?
That persons choice.
This is a farcical discussion. Let's compare the following two statements
- you've ate all the pies you fat b******d
- you're a f*****g n******r
What do you think is the worst.
That persons choice.

People call me a fat bastard everyday. It doesnt offend me, but i guarentee, if you go up to a black guy and call him a N****r, he'd be ddeply offended. No contestI would say both have the potential to be equally offensive.

I am sure that the likes of Nigel Farage and Nick Griffin would agree with you.
