Lineker was gutted (3 Viewers)

Ian Wright has all sorts of links to various underworld gangsters (many players of course do) and that was the case as far back as 1990. One of the reasons he hated Oggy (they had a mutual dislike) was because Oggy was an ex copper and by Oggy's own admission he wasnt averse to putting it about a bit when he was dealing with various unsavoury elements. Oggy was no shrinking violet back in the day and Wright liked to think he was a hard man (still does)
I think the reason Wright was often overlooked by England in his pomp was due to his off field shenanigans . His golascoring record was up there with Shearer and far better than Sheringham but if i recall he Wright barely got a look in back then.

Old enough to remember his pathetic smirk in 2001. If you are not, well obviously cannot blame you for being a bit confused as to what i am referring to.
I was almost 11 and don’t remember it being rubbed in. Just remember a montage of the 34 year run in the top flight which isn’t something they’ve done much since

The only thing that bugs me is his obscene TV licence funded salary for a few hours work a week. But I don't suppose you can blame him for accepting it.

What is he then🤔
Like so many he is both a beneficiary of socialism and subsequently of neoliberalism.
He is typical of luvvie culture that swamps our institution’s believing this gives them the right to fire off like loose canons.
I don’t altogether blame him, just the symptomatic response to being a celeb without the nous necessary.

He should have married Lilly Allen and the pair of them could have moved to Calais where they can do some good for the world rather than just lecture us all about their own moral compass.
But they didn't. Sadly.

Honestly though, who gives a shit. We'll be back on Match of the Day within the next year or two so we can start a proper thread then.

We should start a nasty song about Linacre , I can’t stand the fucker
I remember when spurs played us at HR, a section of our support in a different part of the ground I was in, were singing an especially ‘nice’ song about his baby son. Who I think was being treated for cancer at the time I believe.
Well done us.

I think Linekar might’ve scored 2 that day.

I personally do not think there is a mainstream media bias against us, however I bet Midlands Today are going to be absolutely gutted. Furthermore has anyone ever heard that Radio 5 Live ‘Midlands football correspondent’ Pat Murphy ever mention Coventry? He is always commentating on Wolves, Aston Villa or West Brom, and occasionally Leicester City
I agree Murphy never ever mentions the City. Can’t stand the bloke personally.

Lineker hates us, always did, Shearer and Ian Wright never had a good word to say about us in the 90s. Had any other lower league team did what we did today they would have been banging on about it constantly.
Younger fans wont remember what these guys were like back in the day.
Wright was upset with us at one point when he was subbed off at Highfield Road. Think he was playing for Arsenal and they forgot their kit, so they had to wear one of our strips. Marching off, he threw the shirt down and stamped on it. The steward ( a well known hard nut) told him to pick it up or he would deck him. Wright said I will sue you, but picked it up.
To be fair to Wright, he said there was a major injustice when Hartson was blatantly sandwiched in the penalty area against West Ham right near the end of the match. If we had scored that pen, we would probably have stayed up.

I suppose you cannot blame a bloke for taking a massive salary for doing a job you love.
What is sad is that I know a few people who are being made redundant from the BBC including freelance award winners on short-term contracts. Londoners with mortgages and kids in school being told to move to Salford or Cardiff.

I was always led to believe that noses and ears never stop growing throughout your life .
Well Lineker's ears used to act as a sail and his nose was quite prominent .
However, they're all smaller now . It's not normal is it ?
He's plastic.

I remember the steward you refer to. He loved a ruck!
Wright basically had an issue with anyone who could handle themselves. He hated Schmeichal as well and their altercation at OT i believe was bourne out of issues off the field between them and something Schmeichel said. Wright is like many of the wannabee gangsters at the david lloyd gym i go to, like to give the swag but hate people who couldnt't give a f*ck about them.

This sounds totally made up, but it certainly happened with Chelsea and I think it was Leboeuf who stamped on the shirt. There’s plenty of photo evidence of them wearing the shirts, notably of Zola.
If it happened with Arsenal as well I’d love to see some evidence.

Really? Why? Just genuinely intrigued as he does seem fake to me

Had some business dealings with him. We loaned him product and signed a document saying that he had to give them back after 6 months or pay for them.

He was really friendly while he had them loaned to him, end of the 6 months came and I got one of my team to reach out to him and organise return or his payment.

He kicked up a massive fuss (total value of what he had was about 2k, nothing to him). Told me to delete his number and not contact him again, absolutely baby about the whole thing. Was pathetic.

On the other hand I also dealt with Shearer, Roy Keane, Lee Dixon and a one David Beckham at the time. All thoroughly pleasant chaps.

Football is a game of opinions and people have likes and dislikes for clubs for all sorts of reasons.

Why people take offence over minor things, criticism, opinions, I will never know?

Why some of our fans can be so touchy is beyond me?

If you can't take it, don't give it out like Billy Big Bollocks under the banner, " It's just bantz."
