It is very difficult to go out and buy a team in one go, even if you have a blank piece of paper. At this level resources/finances are limited so it can take three or four transfer windows to recruit the relevant players.

Loans are a way of plugging holes and adding a bit of extra quality or experience.

As with anything, there are advantages and disadvantages with loans.

hopefully over a two year period we will start to see our own spine develope. But to hang onto our own, like Maddison, Lamerieras and RCC, the club has to make progress and give them new challenges.

I kind of get that, but then you're back to the argument that we're developing other teams youngsters ahead of our own, if all they are doing is adding a bit of depth. Murphy and Armstrong I have no issue with, they are different and better than we have.

Well I'd rather have Morris and Kent on the bench than say Finch and say one of the Kelly Evans twins.

Mowbray always said he wanted 8 or 9 players to rotate in the attacking 4 positions in the team, whilst Kent may not be significantly (or any) better than Maddison, JOB or Lamieras (all subjective) he's definitely better than what we had in reserve to those three players. Same with Morris.

Well let's see at the end of the season if we have held on to Maddison and Charles Cook etc.

I'm not counting my chickens.

We would at least get a fee for Maddison.

Unlike Armstrong.

And a well-run club (yes yes, I *know*) would be able to use that fee to help plug losses and build a squad.

You could maybe argue Morris is taking opportunities from Thomas, Finch and Lawton, except all of those have had injuries so far this season, none have impressed previously and we have 2 DMs this season so need more cover. Kent is here as a like for like for Maddison, we all seemed to agree that when he got injured we lost something and I imagine will go as soon as he's fit. Cole is Cole, you're not going to turn that down if it lands on your lap.

Mowbray doesn't want a first 11 and then lower quality back up which is essentially what people are talking about.

Mowbray wants a squad of 20-22 who are all of similar ability (obviously you still have stand out performers) that can all contribute and slot in almost like for like and that he can rotate to give players rests at the right time, without the loans that wouldn't be possible.

No neither am I, because even the top European sides lose top players to other sides. It is not easy building a good side is it? But then these frustrations are what makes football so fascinating.
