Nick - could I clarify that you did see kids at sixields yesterday wearing NTFC shirts?
KM has posted on facebook - NTFC Shirts, Northampton Saints colours, Northamptonshite cricket hats etc,. For them, watching CCFC, is some new leisure experience and from what we hear the football served up is far better than what the Cobblers are dishing up..
How's your mate thorny doing "football expert"?
You are saying that people shouldn't be going on about gates though - aren't you? This season is lost. Winning or losing is now pretty much irrelevant to the bigger picture - we're not going up nor down. But gates and turnover are of vital importance to subsequent year's potential performance; and anyone dismissing their worth is delusional
You can always tell when I debate isn't going someone's way (topic hop)
If there are 100 from Northants I'd be surprised.
Indeed, it's boring and depressing. I'd prefer to ignore what the attendance was personally, it's irrelevant.
I can't believe this thread has reached 17 pages. I don't see that it matters remotely whether a few Northampton fans come to our games, the fact remains that SISU are killing the club by enforcing us to play matches away from Coventry in front of the lowest ever gates in our 131 year history.
I would be very surprised that a league 1 football team, playing in a town of 212k people, gets not 1 local watching them.
a/ Those that don't go would want the numbers to drop towards zero because they believe that will help their cause.
b/ Those that go would want the numbers to increase because they are not bothered about the politics they just want to support the team and increase will help that cause.
Both are trying to explain increases and decreases as it helps there cause. Northampton fans (this thread) is the latest one to argue about.
Strangely enough .... the Ricoh would be the answer to both these causes yet we argue about where we are rather than where we want to be.
All parties should pursue Sisu to get us back to the Ricoh asap and then pursue both ACL and SISU to keep us there.
Sisu should give ACL a rolling 3 years notice whilst attempting to agree a mutual deal with a fixed 3 year notice once they start the new stadium.
ACL would need to agree a rolling 3 year deal (instead of a 10 year one they want) and the FL would sign into it knowing that the fall back is a new stadium.
It's not s'trange - the Ricoh WOULD be the answer, but then the argument would be on what conditions.
I say:
There should be NO rental deal. ACL should be owned by SBS&L.
We should pursue CCC and Higgs to agree to start a process to sell their shares to SBS&L.
See, I really wouldn't.
Sure people living in Coventry would have popped to see their local football team without having to support them, too. When I've lived away I've gone to see the local football team near me, we have DazzleTommy on this(?) thread saying he went to see Telford.
It happens.

Saw Bristol Rovers v Bristol City about 1989 in Bath
See, I really wouldn't.

Sure it happens. But more than a 100 locals paying to see a bottom half League 1 game, on a cold/wet sunday---ummm doubt it.

Anyway see what happens at the big local derby on weds ...
Virtually zero interest in CCFC here in the Northampton area. Chronicle & Echo literally never mentions a word about your matches.
You have to understand the town. The Saints get 15,000 a week and are expanding their stadium. The Cobblers get 5k. Highly unlikely many locals will watch Coventry v Shrewsbury when they don't watch their own team.
Out of interest, how did that play out for banter between the sets of fans?!?
Or if it was Simod Cup, was the crowd about 17?
I think the main point is being missed.
We are getting new visitors going all the time. Even Grendul went yesterday. We will always get neutrals turn up. Yet we have lost hundreds from earlier in the season. And this is from a number of which were record lows or very close to. How many of the original Northampton goers have already given up on going to Northampton? Will any of these be back next season?
Such sad times for my once proud club.

What will happen is another boring discussion about the crowd.
No doubt. Not really that important though is it?
It is sad, admittedly I have considered it and strongly contemplating going to Sixfields before the end of the season.
If you do when you get up the next day remember you will not be able to look at yourself in the mirror.
Going to Sixfields turns you into a vampire apparantly.
I genuinely couldn't give two hoots what most on here think G-Man, in actual fact if I wanted to go and watch another game bar Coventry City in Northampton I'd watch Exeter, but I don't want to watch Exeter I want to Coventry, sure I'd like to be doing this in Coventry at the Ricoh, but for complicated reasons which never made me fall in love with the Club in this first place I can't, all I want to do is watch the lads as much as I can, if that means Sixfields, if that time comes then so be it.
I agree. That's why I ended up going. Its nowhere near as crap as people make out either.
So you agree with us moving there?
