I thought MR might be looking into recruit a promising GK from non-league. Cheaper option than LOB and can't be any worse.

Non league keeper, so altho we keep being told what a young inexperienced squad we have we look at a non league keeper.
I thought with the rumours of Burge leaving at the end of the seson we d be looking at an older experienced keeper. We ve
got O Brien and Addai.albeit it I ve not seen Addai play.

cannot imagine that there are not some experienced old hands waiting to be plucked from obscurity?

O'Brien's not up to it, so we'd need a half-decent reserve.

sounds like a musical hall act. We've had a fair few keepers who have played like one.

From the bits I’ve seen of the other goalie we have as well I would get shot of all three and bring in two decent ones

Very difficult to get a good consistent GK! Hopefully robins can get his recruitment right this summer

It's probably not far off if not as difficult as finding a consistent goalscorer. Hopefully he will but given the amount of potential outgoings that could depart, he's got a fair amount of work to do.

Wills will sign a new deal, got a good feeling as he is loyal to the club and will hopefully be Captain next season. Davis and Burge will be gone then hopefully more of the deadwood can be shipped off too....
Should have a fair amount of wage budget for new players coming in with the departures in the Jan window too?

We'll see. I have a feeling he may take the George Thomas route and see what's out there first before he thinks about committing to us. I don't want to be too negative obviously but if this happens I do fear it's likely not to work in our favour as if history teaches us anything we more often than not come second best in trying to convince our own star players to stay on.

Yeah we've saved a huge amount by offloading Clarke-Harris, Ogogo, Andreu and Doyle though so we should in theory have a healthy budget for next season.

If we stay up of course :joyful:

I suspect Willis didn’t leave in this window to maximise his options and value in the summer. Probably very little to do with personal loyalty to the club.

Agreed. I'd be very surprised if he stayed to be honest as he could easily get a more lucrative contract elsewhere, even in League One. Maybe that's the pessimist in me though.

If he does, I'll hold no grudge.
He stayed with us on the decline (when others left / had options to go) and has helped on the way up.
Obviously, like him to stay, but, that's the modern game.

Neither. He showed tremendous loyalty staying on in League Two and was a force throughout the campaign. It would be a huge statement if we managed to keep him but if he feels he deserves a higher contract whether it be here or elsewhere, I don't think anyone can argue with his decision.

I think he owed it too us to remain and try and get us back at the first time of asking (which he did) when we went down. He also had a poor poor season in that dreadful team that went down. Hope he will stay but as someone else said I think he is maximising his options to see who/where is available.

I never mind us taking a chance on non-league players. Low risk with potentially high rewards.
