Looking Forward To Seeing Us Compete at Last (2 Viewers)

Why?! Because we have such a big say in club matters?! I'm not saying the negatives don't outweigh the positives, what I'm saying is I believe we can compete in league 1 next season (not walk it) and nobody on this board will change my mind on that. The only thing that will change my mind is the performance of the team.

we couldnt compete in the championship and struggled past 5 seasons

while there is no money and thorn is at the helm with sisu then that wont change

ffs we lost to donny at home saturday , that dont bode well for next season

i wish i could be optmistic but i find nothing giving me that

When have i ever been a no it all? or belittled anyone? I just think as we will be in the top 3 biggest clubs in Div 1 - FACT. I am looking forward to seeing us compete again. That is all i said. YOU or I do not know who will be sold who will be bought, as we sit at the minute i am confident that we will have a team good enough for DIV 1. It is after all a standard a lot less than championship., which contained over a dozen bigger clubs than ours. If you dissagree so what, Just my opinion of which i am entitled to state

Yesss, that Donny game has a massive impact on our form next year. We also drew at Carrow Road last game of the season before, does that mean we were premiership standard then?

what a awful comparison

a norwich team who were already champions and took the game as a pinch of salt we were safe so played with ease

we played a team saturday who were already relegated and we still had a glimmer of hope of staying up , last home game and we put in that dispaly against a team who only took 4 points from there previous 30

we've been awful all season, that is a fact, so what will change next season. ROD, Baker, Bell, McDonald, Platt all garbage.

Think you missed the point there. The point was, games this season have absolutely no influence on the next seasons.

Also, we didn't have a chance of staying up once Bristol City went in front after 11 minutes. So essentially, not a bad comparison.

I agree that i thought we could stay up, to be fair we had more than 1 opportunity to do so, but kept blowing it. But i disagree that i had a go at people who thought other wise. I cant understand negative people that i admit!! i just find it strange that people support cov yet slag them off so badly and have zero hope! what is the point of being a fan?

I think that we had penalties we could/should have scored, good goals dissalowed and matches thrown away late on. those points would have been enough, but we didn't get em. So i look at the positive of that and think we played well and beat much much better sides than we will meet next year, we were never massively outplayed in many games either. most on here think Baker, Cody and ROD are league 1 standard! So yes i am confident for next year.

Another good comment from yourself I see. We must have lost our last game or had some bad news otherwise we would not see you posting.

I think we will have a good season as long as our squad is not ripped apart again. We will have lost more high earners from our club by the time we start again so should be able to replace them with players good enough for this division for a lot less. Our academy lads should also do better as we will be at a level we would have looked at to loan out to. Cody should score lots of goals. Just hope we don't sell him. We will be against teams with gates of 4k or less. It is an achievement for them to be safe before the end of the season. Yes we will be one of if not the biggest clubs in Div 3. A lot easier than Div 2. We will have a great away following for the division.

There are lots of plusses for next season. I think we will do well. We will not be favourites to go down like last season.

All smiley is saying is that we might have a better season next season than this. We all know what the negatives are,we're not stupid, but come on, all he's saying that he thinks we might do better next season and actually enjoy going to the games.

I'd rather think positively, than think we're going to have another season from hell, and there's no harm in thinking this way, and you should'nt slate him and others for being know-alls. We all know that we need the owners to go, and that we need to get rid of some of the dross that play in the first team to move this club forward. I dream everyday that all will be well sometime in the near future, if i thought pessamistically all the time i would be a right miserable bastard to live with, and my missus would'nt put up with all that.

I can't see any reason to be positive about next season uness there is a takeover.

Sisu have constantly and consistently sold our best players and have consistently weakened our squad as a result.

The word is the drop is going to cost about 4 million in lost revenue and we are already losing money hand over fist and are consistently not making our break even figure for attendances.

Next season Sisu are going to have to cut harder and faster and that tells you that our squad will be even weaker. Who is left to sell who is worth owt? Top of the pile would probably be Keogh. How much are we going to get for him? £400,000 tops you would have thought. If we sold him for £400,000, at least £300,000 of that would go on paying off the debts and would not be re-ivested in players. You would therefore probably have £100,000 at the very most to try and bring in 2 or 3 players.

Yep, Baker, Cody and McSheff would probably do well in League One, but we are going to have yet another pitifully thin squad, even more kids pushed through before they are ready and a distinct lack of quality to boot.

The only hope we have is that the likes of above plus a few others absolutely shine for us and are star performers week in week out.

I can only foresee a season of struggle. Plus teams are going to raise their games coming here to the Ricoh. For some it will be like a cup final and as for the Johnstone Paint Trophy? Since when did we do very well against lower league sides? More than likely that we will be knocked out in the first round.

I honestly cannot see anything to look forwards to without major investment!

correct. I normally applaud optimism, but any fan showing any at this precarious time are just deluded and if supporters continue to bury their heads in the sand then they're in for a nasty surprise.

Yeah, this would be the belittling ^^^^

Here you go - surprisingly those that are a bit optimistic are not "burying their heads in the sand", they are merely hoping for the best. God forbid anybody with hope. And, if you think ANYTHING can surprise a Coventry fan in a nasty way anymore then you sir are the one who is deluded.

im a fan but im concerned about this club big time , which i go back to the point

cov fans seem to put there head under sand and pretend everything fine when it isnt

if this club dont get investment then we are screwed.

seriously fans need to wake up from the old days and realise we are in trouble both on and off the pitch

Why do you think you're the only one worrying? I worry about the club but that's not what this thread was about. It was about a little positivity next season. It was assuming everything would be ok. It was one thread talking about next season! There are enough threads about administration, liquidation etc. But no, you're right, we're all burying our heads in the sand because of one thead!

Can't disagree with too much of that. However we now seem to want to close the club down, form a new one, have Keys on the board with Bobby Gould and play at Nuneaton. I'll stick with your way of thinking. Lunatics are taking over the asylum.

Again, what i have i said that is so wrong? I am looking forward to seeing us compete at last. Would you rather i said....Division 1 is gonna be too good for us we may go down again?

I am trying to be upbeat fella, i also said surely SISU will not strip us bear again, we may just have youth, we may just have the lads we have got now. But i Think as we stand we can have a better time of it than last season that is all. By august we may have sold everyone be playing on Memorial park and fielding supporters....cant predict the future, just saying it as i see it. Can we not be a little bit poitive, there has been enough doom and gloom.

Lets hope not then, we may have found our level ha-ha. To be fair i look at saints, norwich and fester all doing okay after a drop. It may even bring investors in if we perform.

Can't see anything other than top 6. As long as we dont sell too many.

This is like deja vu from the time we went down from the Permiership and it's scaring me.

Be very prepared for a big shock!!!

David Smith on Saturday was saying League One is much tougher than the Championship and that we would have to spend heavily to compete! He's been Grimsby's commerical director through 3 relegations.

Ahhh Hooters, what a fine drinking hole. One of my favourite experiences was when my ex brother-in-law took me to Hooters in Nashville. A scantily dressed, drop dead gorgeous blond waltzes over and says "hi i'm Cary-Anne and i'm your serving girl today", bloody hell I thought ,we're going to be here for a very long time.

If it were'nt for the god awful yankie beer i could of stayed there for ever.

As most of us i am sure, have been pretty low since Saturday (well, since last Tuesday to be honest!) But sunday after looking at the paper and especially the League 1 Table, i am getting a bit more excited about the coming season. Yes, i am sure the SISU thing will rage on, and throw a few more twists in but, i can not affect that. I reckon they will sell/release but will allow us to buy for a change. (cant be that stupid too not!!) So based on the lads we have, and most likely will be keeping, ROD, Cody, Baker, Deegan be great at this level, throwing 2/3 new faces in after selling some. I am looking forward to us having a real go, I mean there are some shit in that league and i refused to put us amongst the strugglers, we are better than that. Title contenders maybe, but most defo Promotion hopefulls. Just want the season over and done then plan fantastic away days to Notts County, Preston and the like. Upwards and onwards.

PUSB

Can I gently steer you in the direction of the Wednesday fan in peace thread. Sounds a million miles away from your 'title contenders maybe, but most defo promotion hopefuls' and 'fanatstic away days.'

A big, big shock awaits I'm afraid to say.
