Eggs contain plenty of protein as do lentilsWhat do you do for protein if you eat no meat?
There is protein in eggs, milk, cheese and in seafood, also in some vegetables like beans, peas and mushrooms, and of course in nuts, grains and seeds. What do you do for protein if you eat no meat?
Try Dal Tadka. Lentil curry. Delicious.Eggs contain plenty of protein as do lentils
Well you have all shamed me into deciding i better try and lose a stone or two. Wife has nagged me for couple years about the need to eat healthier etc and exercise more...so I suppose now is the time. I feel fairly fit for a 55yr old with a new hip (best thing I ever had...but two years of being inactive took its toll), I walk regularly and help train an u14 football team. But I am partial to chips, chocolate and Chinese etc. Better make that change.

Just eaten a packer of crispsPlenty of fish - no crisps, choccy, beer, wine
All my escapisms from my dull life
But what change, what are you going to do. I think it's important to have an idea what you plan on doing it as without a clear plan it's easy to give up.
Done 4lb so far, still really hurting in the gym and bad to see how different it is since I stopped going before
Still, fitbit is a great invention for motivation. Link it up with myfitness pal and it gives a big green if you stay well under calories and a big green if you hammer the exercise.
Also reminds you to drink water, get up and walk about etc. The difference between that on a cross trainers screen with heart rate is massive, cross trainer tried to steal about 200 calories.bell end
Just will take a while!
Blimey.....some of you lot have got the new year/new start bug ain't ya?
I've always been a bit of a racing snake but got knocked off my bike in October which put pay to my cycling & exercise regime...
...then xmas happened.....
.....this has left me decidedly soft in the middle (and the rest of my life is so hard)....
I'm 45 and for the first time, feel like i've got a bit of middle-aged flab around my midrift.....it almost feels like its dropped off my shoulders, arms & chest & landed around my waist.
So i'm all healed up, currently building a new road bike (already riding again on my commuter & fixed) but want some exercise tips on how to specifically target & shift this wobbly belly belt I've developed...
Shifting the gut is the problem I had. You've got to remember diet is the most important thing. You can ride miles and miles, but if you eat crap, the belly will remain.Blimey.....some of you lot have got the new year/new start bug ain't ya?

There should be something local to you. My wife and mother in law used to go and they target non swimmers and those with limited ability (this is in Northampton where we live). The council website should have info.I'd love to start swimming, I nearly drowned as a kid and ended up never learning. I went to adult lessons once but it was all people with special needs and me, I felt like a right twat.
Anyone know any decent adult swimming classes?

I do eat a little meat, mostly chicken but little to no red meat.
Yes please mate - just had a chat with the family about cooking more interesting, healthy food.I've got a great recipe for a green lentil chili if anyone wants it? Eat it with brown rice to get complete amino acids. No, I'm not Iain Dowie.

What annoys me is that I can kill myself on a Cross Trainer for 20 minutes and it's less calories burnt than a brisk 25 - 30 minute walk!
