Love to Hate - Prats v Heroes (1 Viewer)

I am sure many of you have watched enough games involving CCFC and other clubs to decide which players are complete prats BUT boy wouldn't they be good in our team.

When I mean prat I am referring to the type of player that is obnoxious, disrespectful and one you feel like giving a slap.

There are three categories here, lets say over the last 20 years:

  • those that have played for CCFC and don't want 'em back
  • those that play for other clubs but would be / have been good for CCFC
  • those that are prats for other clubs but not suitable for CCFC
In the first category I can think of one outstanding candidate - Craig Bellamy who was a TOTAL prat and I still wouldn't have him back although he is still a very good player !!!

In the second category just look at Dennis Wise reviled by everyone but when he put on that Sky Blue shirt he was a revelation and an instant hit with us fans. Another candidate was none other than Gordon Strachan who really p_____d me off in one game against us by wiping his nose on the corner flag ...... even this old git was going to lynch him BUT again when he played for us at the ripe old age of 40 showed his much younger team mates a clean pair of heels in the fitness, commitment and skill stakes.

I am not totally sure about the perfect candidate for the third category but I think Robbie Savage comes close as a prime prat but whether he would be good for us as an actual playing influence as per Wisey and Gordo the jury is still out.

I am sure there are many more out there

What do you think ???

I think you've hit the nail on the head with all those. Bellamy, complete twat, but a good player. Wise massive influence for us, and savage, well if we could have someone like him only 10 years younger....

Keane, Barton, Wise, Savage etc etc all know/knew exactly how to wind up the opposition and how far to get away with it. Their reputations drive them on to do it even more and play better too.

As a Wolves-supporting mate once said to me when Ince was playing for them - "Yes, he may well be a c**t, but he's OUR c**t". And I expect fans of QPR feel the same way about Barton.

I heard Savage on the radio last week and i actually like him now, he is funny. Before that he was an absolute idiot.

Bothroyd. Arrogant sod but on his day he was/is quality. Sadly, there weren't many of those days for us.

Wally, this is a forum. A place for discussions and someone would like to discuss this subject. Please do not intreject if you don't feel you can contribute to the discussion in progress.

thanks

Barton would come top of the third category for me. Complete muppet but when he's playing he is outstanding.

Wallace,

Sorry if my thread upset you but as you can see the majority of my threads are on different topics/aspects of football that can stimulate discussion/banter and comment to make life on SBT more stimulating and interesting.

I have and still do see some posts on SBT that have absolutely nothing to do with football but still attract comment and banter other than three word replies.

It doesn't matter whether its dream land or real land everyone has a choice on thread topic input and what they read in other posts.
