Low Expectations This Season - Maybe I will enjoy it more? (1 Viewer)

In previous seasons (40 of them) I have always viewed the upcoming season with the optimism of a naive child staring through Sky Blue tinted glasses and have always found some crumb of comfort to cling to and base my hopes and aspirations on - be it play offs or top ten and invariably I have been let down and left disappointed and dejected.

This season I can find nothing to pursuade me that we are not going to have a terrible season culminating in relegation. Therefore my expectations are rock bottom and therefore things can only get better, as I already fear the worst.

Maybe this will give me a more laid back approach to games and I will be pleasantly surprised when we scrape a draw at home against Barnsley or only lose by 2 goals away at West Ham. Maybe this will make watching City more pleasurable as it certainly hasn't been fun for several years now.

Expect the worst and hope for the best - Anyone else feeling like this?

Yep. Posted a similar thing the other day.

When you are expecting to lose a win feels all the much better for sure.

if we beat Leshtur on Saturday on the back of all their signings and our perpetual struggle it is going to taste all the sweeter.

You'll only enjoy it more if we surpass your lower expectations, if the team lives up to your expectations then I doubt if mant fans will be enjoying this season.

Don't know if anybody has been reading the season's predcition on Tealtalk but two out of four have so far predicted Coventry Relegation with Thorn first manager to be sacked.

A win on Saturday and the world would look a better place but a bad defeat and I wouldn't like to predict the how low the gates will drop.

I find I enjoy the games a lot more when I have low expectations. Like when we played Norwich in a friendly last Saturday, I expected a loss and I was able to appreciate the football we were playing more than if I was biting my nails and getting frusrated over us losing.

crazy gangs, backs against the wall spirit, I reckon it suits us!

I would love it to be like that....

We just dont have the pace, or power to do the "back to the wall spirit"

In reality we are far too lighweight and will be bullied.

Sven's pre match tactic "right, Nugent, I want you to pull out left, and get on the shouder of the kid they have at right back..then King and Waghorn can feed off the knock downs as Danns will bully their 2 kids in midfield..St Ledger & Mills, one of you drop off, as the will have a kid and O'Donovan up top, so you can beome a spare man at the back and lets build from you."

to be honest what are we left with but to enjoy ourselves.......... if it beats expectations even better. Must be first time in years the fans are actually being realistic rather than buying into the hype

Remember this time last year ........ we were going to be up there with the best, would challenge for top six ?.......... then we got the worst standard of football I have ever seen CCFC play .......... it is the only season I have ever thought about jacking it in .... at least AT will try to play football.

So rain or shine good or bad this season I am going to just enjoy supporting our team

PUSB !!!

To be honest I've reached the point where I couldn't really give a toss about professional football at all any more. Fed up of all the bs, fed up of the endless hype (premier league is the best in the world you know!), fed up of ungracious managers and spoilt brat players (Ferguson and Rooney I'm looking at you). Its like all the fun has been sucked out of it all. I bloody loved the summer when saturdays were stress-free and can you imagine anything like the Ian Bell scenario happening in football these days? Me neither.
