So Clarke has got on his bike once again then.He obviously likes to move about as that's thirteen clubs he's now had. He would have to look up the word loyalty in the dictionary I bet ?But what is it about so many players these days, they move around frequently and they kiss the badge at a club one day and then do the same somewhere else a few months later.Gerrard at Liverpool has been slated for staying at one club, but why is that ? So are the days of one club players long gone ?

One club players are the past, unlikely to see a Sky Blue hero at the club for 10yrs like Marcus & 'Oggy'.

The football world has changed, not for the better IMHO!

It is sad, it's a 2 way street though, no loyalty from players to clubs, no loyalty from clubs to players.

Unfortunately it's not just football its the modern world, stay with your insurance provider for longer than a year and get screwed the same with many other things.

If Leon had been more loyal we would not have got him on a free and not have scored 28 goals for us. What goes around comes around, its a bit hypocritical to blame Leon, we paid him peanuts he demonstrated that he was better earned the right to more money club also got a lot of cash for a free transfer. He's moved on we need to move on.

As thai says both had other clubs but they were loyal for a long time.Years ago players seemed to stay around longer, but money wasn't like it is now so could that be a factor ?

Funny that there was not a string of Clubs trying to sign him - what will he do next season when Wolves are in the Championship and he's on the bench if lucky.
By the way - Wolves is his home club - so you could say that is loyalty.
Second time around never seems to work out - ask McSheffrey.

Many complained in the summer that the players were not joining the fans in complaining about the club moving to Northampton, at the time the defence was that these guys need to be paid, have mortgages and families, so they have to do what their employer asks.

I feel a similar argument can be applied as these guys have a short career and need to make the most out of this career. He is being loyal to his hometown club and hopes to win something with them and move up to the next level.

I think it is a good move for him and wish him well.

I'm sure money is a factor, also moving (physically moving city) was a much bigger percentage cost back then, ie if you are on £500 a week and offer you a 20% payrise to move it might not be worth it, all the costs of relocation will eat up that £100 a week increase for quite a while and your partner might need a new job too.

Now a days if you get the same 20% payrise, well thats more than your partner earns at all, the costs of moving are paid for with a weeks increase and so it's way more attractive.

Do you know, it makes me quite sick listening to all this short career bollox.................What happens then when they finish playing football, do their arms and legs fall off and they can't work again?? They are hugely priveleged to earn such vulgar sums, why shouldn't they go and do a 9-5 like the rest of us for 20 years !

The majority of City players from say the 60's and 70's had to work in factories, building sites etc when their careers ended.
Can't see players playing now doing that, they seem to go into coaching or t.v.work.

Leon and Gez Moxey (Wolves Chairman) and 3 other suits seen having a meeting in the reception of the bar area in the Village Hotel Wolverhampton on Monday 20th Jan.

I remember when the City provided houses for their players on Norton Hill. I also cleaned windows on Woodway Lane and Gary Thompson and Les Sealey lived there, they both were good payers !
