Binks’ distribution is top notch but his positioning could be worked on, imo. I felt we were more secure in the Bristol City game but distribution-wise, we looked a lot better with Binks.

I suspect there will be a lot of rotation in that LCB role depending on the opposition.

Loved the look of Binks when he was on loan last year, clearly wanted to come back, especially after pelting the whole length of Wembley to celebrate with the fans with that 'goal'.
He just looks classy on the ball and is only going to get better.

Also really like seeing him doing the cross balls, it's nice to have that in our play book and the fact when he missed one towards the end he was visibly annoyed with himself.

He also reminds me of someone and I'm struggling to work out if it's a player we've had or someone like Spurs had years ago... Or if it's Martin Kemp.

Good player, could do with releasing the pass a second before sometimes, but hopefully that will come as the season goes on. Glad he has come back

I really hope not. I like the options we have, but I hate chopping and changing defensive lines. Get a unit and stick with it. Their shirt to lose. Rotate the front players but a settled keeper and back 4 playing together regularly is key for me.

Binks is our best CB easily. Had a great start to the season. Just need to find a settled pairing now. Thomas is a more brutal / physical defender - but on the ball is poor. Not sure about Lati. But we had what c£5m of CBs on the bench last night and still think we need another.

On the ball, without a doubt. Defensively, Kitching and Thomas are better imo.

All 3 league goals we’ve conceded have been poor and the defence including Binks bears responsibility there.

Binks is a classy player, very good on the ball and defensively solid. Albeit he got a telling off last night from MR for two ‘Hollywood’ passes which didn’t work out!

I also love his passion for the club; re-watch the celebrations for the third goal and you’ll see how much it means. He’s been a nomad for a while so he likely appreciates being part of a club even more - and full credit to the staff/players for creating that atmosphere and togetherness culture.

Binks is really coming along well, great long passing range, similar to Doyle a couple of seasons back. I still think Kitching and Thomas last season (before Kitchings red cards) was the best CB partnership we’ve had recently though. Still reckon it might be but both need deliver at that level again to get back in

I'm a little conflicted on Binks currently.... is he our best "footballing" centre back.?,,,,,,yes without a doubt.....but for me given his height he is definitely lacking in physicality and if you throw him in alongside Lati and play a "physical" side think we would get bullied to hell.

Think probably Thomas/Kitching & Binks would be my preferred central 2 with the other two to help combat Binks lack of physicality especially against the less nice opposition......Cardiff/Stoke/Millwall etc...

I consider Binks was at fault for Oxford first goal.
Doesn't defend the first ball into the box after Eccles initial clearance & then has an opportunity to block the final shot but gets his body shape all wrong or even bottles it ! With a consistent run in the team he may develop into a reliable centre half but at the moment I think we need a lot more from him.

Spurs had Binks a few years ago to be fair!

I think the word “clearance” here is being kind to Eccles.

I’ve no problem with Eccles, but if he had “Bobby Thomas’d” that ball back to the Oxford half instead of upwards, we don’t concede there and he takes 90% of the blame for that one.

The other 10% goes to Simms for not committing to the ball and kicking it out of play.

Lati and Simms got in each other’s way in the box and it kind of hits Simms. My expectation would be that a CB takes ownership in that situation.

To be frank, had it been Thomas there I reckon he would’ve pelted it out. Lati on Friday was far more assured on the ball than Thomas v Stoke so it’s a difficult to say who’s best for that position.

maybe Binks could be the dcm we're looking for?? he can tackle, head the ball, has a good range of passes and can hit a shot, what more can you ask for??

On Friday night he allowed the Oxford centre half to beat him in the air & then didn't tackle him before he scored. Our centre backs have a lot to do to prove themselves good enough for a promotion push.

We really do need Thomas in the side, he's a no nonsense CB and he puts his body on the line. His distribution has been shit recently, but he was hard done by against Stoke with the options he had as an outlet. Maybe he just needs an easier ball available every now and then. Having him at the back makes the defence feel more secure.

If Thomas could pass the ball to his teammates, he'd be so good in this league.
If Kitching was smarter, he'd be so good in this league.
If Binks had the physicality of Thomas, he'd be in the Premier League.

Lati was nowhere near the ball. Completely blameless.
He’s not. Binks, Lati and Simms were all guilty of ball watching. Watch the replay and you can see Lati and Simms not make their mind up between them. To me, it looks like Lati was expecting Simms to leave it (presumably so he can mop it up) because when Simms does touch it, Lati appears to have been caught off guard and he’s going the opposite direction (towards Rodrigues - Oxford’s #7).

It’s a collective failure because there were 5 of our players involved who could’ve done better; Eccles, Torp, Binks, Simms and Lati. There’s no one person solely to blame.
