Luton Ground (4 Viewers)

I was saying it well before we got into the playoffs. It’s just a frustration on how the league is run. So many inconsistencies and this is another one.
To be clear, you expected Luton to drop £10m on work to their ground in case they got promoted? Think that through.

I don’t recall us getting one when the CBS wasn’t finished on time.
we got one this season gone because our ground was not ready to playon in the first 3 games!

Highly doubt those having a hissy fit over Luton’s ground would be having one if we hadn’t got to the play off and lost to Luton…

Good luck to Luton, I hope they stay up, and I hope they do it at the expense of someone like Everton who've been throwing money round like confetti, going through big name managers like they're going out of fashion and achieving absolutely fuck all other than a brand of football that would put you off watching the game.

Tbf if you read the BBC article it says it is due to be ready on time but only just. So rather than any potential delay cause a last minute postponement and piss fans off, they're calling it now and both Burnley and the PL agree that's fine. A non-story really.
Why did they not schedule their first few games away? They've done that in the past for other teams and there was always going to be a risk it wouldn't be ready

Good luck to Luton I say! They need to splash the cash to stay up though

I get what you're saying but you'd want to play your first home game back in the PL asap. For as long as it looks like you could, why postpone? I imagine they were in regular contact with the PL and with it not being a health and safety issue they were probably happy to let it slide a bit.

If that is what is needed to get promoted then yes. Other teams in the past have not been able to move up the football pyramid if they don’t have stadiums which meet the criteria of the league above. Why should it be any different from championship to premier league. One example being Stevenage not being promoted to the football league in the 90s.

My big problem with it, isn’t to do with Luton, it’s the inconsistencies across the leagues in this country. One minute a rule is followed, the next jt can be bent/ broken depending on the club and the situation. Which increases the unfairness in football. It’s already massively weighted in bigger clubs favour because of the Sky money, parachute payments etc. To then not implement rules fairly makes it even worse.

I dunno. I think the rule is stupid. So what if the media can’t get in? Safety or capacity is one thing, I don’t feel much sympathy that we might not get a full camera crew for the first few home games.

To be honest they should have redeveloped last season cos they were clearly trending in that direction. But did they have the cash to do so until promotion?

This sounds a bit like sour grapes to me. Luton have been through the shit just like we have. I hated losing the final but they were the better team on the day without a doubt. Our tactic of hoofing it to Vik (which was forced due to O’Hare and Palmer being out) was always likely to be nullified by a half decent team that did their homework, and Luton did.

I don't understand this at all. It's one game. Once they had the capital, they did the work. What that's got to do with Stevenage in the 90s, f*ck knows.

We broke rules, got a suspended punishment. Should we have been docked points there and then instead? I'll be rooting for them, I know that much.

The suspended points is still a punishment.

It’s about consistency in the rules, no consistency from the governing body, that’s all.

You do realise it’s two different bodies with different sets of rules?

Although Luton were in the ascendancy again at the end of the playoff final, the key for me was the Hamer injury. He stays on the field and I believe we would have won the game.

Not sure what to make of their stadium situation, it’s a dump that is barely fit for any division, but it’s not like they haven’t been going through years of planning wrangles trying to sort out their new ground. There probably has been a reluctance to blow a load of cash upgrading Kenilworth Road.
