It probably because (and apologies I might be wrong) he'll be the first Cov born kid in living memory to play for England first team? Evo mentioned Wison - coupled with him being the first Cov born kid to score a prem hat trick, you have to etierh be proud and happy for home born ex players like them .... or wallow in how shit this City is at producing footballers when all we've got to spunk over is something so trivial.
This is me being curmudgeonly and old, but in1967 Bobby Gould, a Coventry born player scored a hat trick in the First Division against Burnley (I was there) which to my old fashioned mind means that Callum is just another Coventry born player to score a hat trick in the top flight. The idea that football began with the Premier League is one of my pet hates. Another, which was exacerbated by watching the Portsmouth goalkeeper on Tuesday, is goalkeepers who collect the ball and then fall over to waste time. (Yes I know Burge does it too). It needs to be looked at along with all other timewasting tactics which frustrate the life out of me.

For what it's worth, I think Foden will go on to have a great career.

The lad is so talented.

Foden (like Sancho) has the talent to have a glittering career with or without the influence of guardiola. I’m sure foden will learn from pep, Silva, de Bruyne etc but equally he would already be flourishing if he had moved away from Manchester. Sancho moves and hasn’t looked back but equally if he had stayed he would have learnt from The City stars and manager...but would he currently be playing Champions League football...I don’t know but I doubt it.
The only certainty is that if maddison had stayed at the Ricoh he wouldn’t have been named in the England squad...I’m sure he would be getting plaudits and talk of a move to the premier league but playing for England...no!

Foden is still only 18 so far too early to early to be playing week in week out for Man City, if I was Pep I'd get him out on loan to a bottom half Premier League club for half a season in January.

But great news for Maddison, I knew he'd go right to the top from the moment he broke into our team.

exactly what i am saying. both are gonna have great careers, moving worked for sancho, staying under pep will work for foden, both ways are beneficial in their own ways. idiotic for anyone to disagree

Some astonishing comments about both Maddison and Henderson. How anyone could have watched either of them play for us and not see international potential is baffling. In Maddison’s case, it needed all of 2 minutes.

If Turner’s right and we only get 10% of JM’s sell-on fee, and 10% of what Norwich receive for England appearances etc., it’s hard to swallow tbh. I’m certainly not rubbing my hands with glee at the “windfall”.

Not saying we could have kept him indefinitely, but we capitulated like a small-town club, and the cumulative money we are going to get out of it wouldn’t pay a Prem player’s wages for more than a few months :(

Proud that we brought him through and all that, but it fills me with disappointment.

Many fans were against Henderson and slagged the manager for not selecting Robbie Simpson who like Biamou was perceived “to put a shift in”

Maddison has to be sold as the club cash flow was critical. He wasn’t impacting results anyway and 10% of the sell on fee is of a fee that’s much higher because we had sold him

Fair dues to him being called up, in fairness tho wasnt for all the first team injuries would he been called up so early?

one thing it will do hopefully spur on academy players that they can make it if they put in the work.

Has improved as he's stepped up in quality. I still think he'll get a move to one of the top 4. Would be nice to see him sign for Liverpool

Maybe a few times. But tbh I probably ended up being right in a roundabout way!
Which one?

Fucking charity bet on whether Foden has an amazing career because of Guardiola. How do you then prove it's because of Pep? How do you know what his development would be like away from City? It's all whataboutery bollocks because then you can claim you're right.

'whataboutery'?

Never heard that word before, but I like it.

You have to remember, even if CC4L is proved wrong he'll say he was right.

It's a no win situation. ;)

I don’t remember negativity against Henderson, and if there was I’m amazed – he had so much talent even at that early stage. Looked like he would be a flying wide man rather than the central mid he has turned into, and all credit to him for establishing himself (deservedly IMO) in the England squad.

I agree that we sold Maddison for cash flow reasons, and under those circumstances you are never going to get the best deal. A body blow at the time (except for those who inexplicably didn’t rate him) and one of the many consequences of the appallingly bad management of the club.

The approach seems to have improved since then I’m glad to say, but we are still languishing in the third division with no money. The ability to keep people like Bayliss for a few seasons will be an acid test of whether the club has turned the corner.

Thanks for falling for the trap

Now turn your post around and put down Sanchos career being down to leaving man city instead of being coached by guardiola. You simply cannot say it made his career, as you say whataboutry

Haha game set match. I am too good at this!
