Why would they be interested before he's even done anything? He won't move until he has
proven himself here. He's made a handful of cameo appearances, no club will pay millions off the the back of that. Once he is a regular and has scored or assisted 15+ goals, the bids will come but not before.

He is a United fan.....

Are you his agent by any chance?
All the more reason to resist 1.7m now and sell him for 6m in 2years time.
What would be fair is that instead of selling these young players at the first chance so they can advance their careers without us why not hold onto them for a while longer so we stand a chance of advancing our club with them.
Let's show the same ambition as our starlets.

If nothing else we need to hold onto him to take penalties and set pieces.
I was thinking that, excellent technique for penalties.
He's very David Beckhamesk. Has a great eye for a pass too.
Well I hope that we get to see him for another season or 2, hopefully develop with us, then he moves on.
Be nice to actually see our decent players play for more than 6months/a season for a change.
Because, as we saw with Wilson, he was a one season wonder, so get rid quick for £2.3 million as he'll be worth Jack next season.....
There is every possibility we would have received less for Wilson had we retained him.

What a load of shite. No wonder this board is getting worse with comments like that

Not so. Wilsons value has escalated because of form in the Championship.
He would have been valued on performances in a team that would still have struggled.
Look at his post Clarke record. If that was equated over the season it would have reduced value - also made worse given the far more defensive approach - why would he have been worth more in a bottom 6 league one team?

There's every possibility we wouldn't have been in a relegation battle and been pushing for the play off place instead because not only would we have not tried replaced him with a bunch of has been pre-Madonnas we could have used the budget we used trying to replace him where it was really needed meaning we had a better squad of players capable of greater things, increasing income stream's and benefiting the club multiple times. Not forgetting we'd probably have then also have got a higher transfer fee.
Still, SW got to say we're cash flow positive. Every cloud and all that.

Sorry that's rubbish. Even with Saint Carl Moussa etc. his goals dried up as soon as Clarke left. There is no way we'd have been challenging for promotion. Also the tactics of playing a narrow midfield restricted the supply to the strikers. He'd have constantly had to play far deeper to see any possession.
Also you seem to think players will just accept rejection of an offer than gives huge increases in salary with no effect on their motivation. That is another significant factor.
He was injured for a large part of the season after Clarke left but was getting back into form once he regained match fitness towards the end of the season so once again you're talking shit.
Are you sure about that? Do you want to check the stats? Tell me how many goals he scored in the last 8 matches of the season?

2.
But he returned from injury against Shrewsbury, game 32.
So in the remaining 14 games, he scored 7.
So its only about the last touch before it goes in the back of the net. I always thought he had more to his game than that. What were the rest of his stats like? Was he still contributing more than anyone else in the team? You've also conveniently forgotten that mouse went AWOL, sorry was injured for the end of the season. How many of those last eight games did FM play in? How many of those last eight games did Wilson have to make up the difference of not having FM there?
Once again you're talking shit.
Wouldn't that have made him our top scorer this season?
So what did you mean when you said he was finding his form again towards the end of the season?

I do see Grendel's point, he could have been restricted in this poor squad this season, and therefore not hit form.
He had 14 games after coming back from being out for 3 months, and scored 7.
