Strict sentences for home grown talent. Deportation for those who immigrated here. Start investigating the large watch lists we have and hoover it up that way. Send out a message that it won't be tolerated.

No, you're right though. Let's not offend anyone. Let it all carry on. Coward.
That’s exactly what is happening

Another attack in Quebec now.
Read a transcript of Macrons interview talking about Erdogan, I think he was spot on. With friends like him.......

I honestly believe his rhetoric has fanned the flames for these follow up attacks.

Why are we doing this... The David lammy stuff... But meh right wing

Islamic terror is far more dangerous, despite what wankers at the independent or the guardian might suggest

I haven't seen anyone say any different. It clearly is.
But the point is do you persecute whole sections of the population based on the actions of the few? And if you do it to the section of the population that contains the biggest threat, do you then do it to the section of the population that contains the second biggest threat?

That seems to be what your suggesting. I really don't want us to follow what China are doing.

Im not on the same page. At all. I think a quick way to radicalise people is to ... (what?? Round them all up into camps like the Chinese do??)
You know, most people who follow a religion do so in name only, really. It's as much about the need for community and support.

So what better way to perpetuate division than to consider a perfectly normal person the problem, and drive them away from *our* community because of the sins of others.
You did you said we allow unchecked immigration
I see some are becoming emboldened for their own agendas. Threads like this are a wet dream to them and they seem to want hideous things to happen as much as terrorists, to Stoke their own division, while deliberately portraying others in a false light.

Again, these threads should be short. We all condemn bad deeds, we all agree those who commit bad deeds should be punished.

I honestly believe his rhetoric has fanned the flames for these follow up attacks.
And that's another uncontentious statement. But somehow, not wanting to condemn whole swathes of people, but rather those who have something to condemn, is seen as being soft.

Bullshit.

One of the biggest problems when talking about Islamic terror and Islam as a religion is deflection... People saying things like "but the right wing" "but the west" " but foreign policy" "but my Muslim neighbours make me cakes so the religion is lovely"

Nothing will ever be done, terror will carry on now for hundred of years throughout Europe and eventually in the future this period / generation and its people will be laughed at for the weak minded fools that we are... We don't be looked back at too fondly

I'm out, nobody can talk about this religion.. You all claim to be Liberal yet consistently back sonething so fucking UN Liberal it makes no sense... Chow

It's not defection, it's a perfectly legitimate point. If we start putting people in camps where does it end?

You made some points about what can be done in post 208 which targeted perpetrators and those that enable them, no one disagreed with you.

That switched last night to demonising a whole community, that's what people are disagreeing with. As I said, look through history to see where that leads you.

And in my reply to post 208 I pointed out why none of the points you made were happening, absolutely nothing to do with David Lammy or the Guardian. You need to be looking at who's been in charge for the last 10 years.

Actually, I pointed out that there is a large % backed up by stats, of Muslims who hold extreme views that aren't compatible with our values... You can't say a religion is peaceful and lovely when for example 40% of Nigerian Muslims believe that suicide bombings are justified for example.... You realise how many millions of people that is.. So peaceful

Islam isn't peaceful, its very hardcore with millions of extremists

It will. Just cranks up bit by bit, people get desensitised, people who are concerned get shamed and pigeon holed. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s wasted stress. Can’t do anything. 40 years I’ll be gone, my kids will have been primed by the education system and media to take it on the chin.

Things go in cycles don’t they? Christianity went through its medieval conquering stage with coercion and brutality, the next 100 years may well see Islam do the same. At some point people will get fed up with living like it and rise up until the next thing and so on and so on

True, you haven't. But if you demonise a whole community what's the solution going to be? And it's dangerous rhetoric.
You demonise a whole community, it seems you demonise people Otis and I would call friends and thus, by extension, us.

And then wonder why we get pissed.

I don't come on here and suggest Pete is responsible for child abuse in the Catholic church because he's a Christian!

I can find stats that dispute that and state that Boko Haram do not have much support among Nigerian Muslims.

To be honest I'm not really bothered if you get pissed off... The numbers are huge, the attacks are continuous and people have had enough.

You can sit there and back a religion that goes against everything that you actually believe in or you can sit and watch the gradual decline in public opinion right before your eyes... 🤷 I don't care

You actually think far right dick heads are more dangerous than Islamic terrorists around the world Pete?
Fair play
Oh no I don’t I think they are to the uk and the us. Most Muslim terrorism is inter Muslim. We win nothing bringing ourselves down to their level. I’m not suggesting you are, no one thinks what has happened in France is anything other than sickening and deserves the most severe punishment

Ok.. List the number of right wing terror attacks in the US and the UK and their deaths over 50 years .. And il do the same for Islamic attacks and deaths over the last 50 years in the US and UK ... Let's do it, what you say?

Then afterwards we can list the number of right wing terrorist incidents globally and do the same again... I'm guessing 1 will struggle to hit 1000 and the other will struggle to stay below a million

Lol read too fast.. Apologies

I'd still be interested to see the numbers... It would really be quite shocking just how many people have died globally to Islamic terror in the last 50 years

I've repeadly said I think the far right is the 2nd biggest terrorist threat but it's still miles behind the Islamists.

As I've said, the majority of Islamists victims are other Muslims in Muslim countries which isn't somewhere youll get far right activity.
The numbers there will be huge. There was a big attack in Pakistan recently which didn't really get any coverage. I don't know what the motivation was - Sunni v Shia, extremist v moderate etc.

Anyway.. For what it's worth a group of men moaning at each other on a football forum won't change what goes on anyway... It's all shouting at screens with very little purpose...

I'm out..

Ps.. Apologies if I offended anybody but I say what I feel, sometimes don't get my point over in the best way possible but it's real, it's how I feel.

Islam doesn't sit right with my values, I don't look at the treatment of women, children and marginalised groups within the religion and see it as a positive, Infact it annoys me immensely..
I cannot stick up for it.

It goes against modern values

Maybe they should try reformation, much like what Christianity went through hundreds of years ago...
Maybe that's where the more positive and less extreme future lies for that religion

Who said I back a religion? More bullshit.

I back giving people who treat me and others with respect, the same courtesy back.

And not condemning them based on some perceived prior opinion, without actually sodding talking to them!

I’m not sure public opinion or support is on the decline at all, quite the opposite. It’s why I try not to talk about it as it is exhausting swimming agaInst the tide, like I say need to just get in with it
