I think that there is much to support your argument. We don't know just how tied Pressley's hands are.

Again, given how anti-loans Pressley was start of last season he's either:

a) mad (possible, he agreed to come here despite everything after all!) or;

b) lacks control to manage as he sees fit.

If the former, would you trust the people who appointed him to get it right next time? If the latter, then anyone coming in will have no more luck.

I think it is at least 2-1 against any manager succeeding at any club. It's pot luck for the most part. I mean, if we break it down to the essentials - a moderate squad payroll and a decent stadium and decent training facilities and a youth academy to draw from - then CCFC is fundamentally sound for a winning team. I expect it's a question of whether the manager has the nous for the league, the ability to command the respect of that particular group of players, and to bring out the best of them. I'm not sure if there's a way to make that recruitment, other than chopping and changing until you hit gold.
