Ardiles didn't join spurs till late 70s did he? You've got a couple missing years somewhere mate......

...haven't we all!
Ardiles joined Spurs after 78 WC but was given a testimonial before the 86 WC. I think it was because he didn't leave after Falklands War started like Villa did and it wasn't after the usual 10 years.

Nice one. Didn't know that....good bit of trivia.

Watching the FA Cup game on the BBC. Minute's silence before the game and glad to see all the players were on the white line as a mark of respect.

Unrelated Brackley have a forward called Ndlovu. Almost certainly Peter's offspring given his antics.

I hope Peter Shilton was giving his teammates daggers for all those hacks, what with him being all about sportsmanship I assume it's across the board and not just when it happens to England

I caught the end of it. Butchers comments regarding lamping him if he pointed to his head was like him, full of shit.
On a different note, Steve Hodge is sitting on a goldmine. Lucky fecker.

Some of the tedious links the commentators keep coming out with to players playing today to Maradona is pathetic.

Cavani scored "I am sure that was for Maradona"...

Maradonas death being investigated?!

Reminds me a bit of the Michael Jackson thing.

Mix of someone with such high status probably demanding things and the inability of some people to accept such greatness has passed so early and need someone to blame.

These are the games that made it into being recorded. The people who got to go and watch the likes of him, Pele, George Best, Bobby Charlton etc really were lucky.

Not Maradona but another great , please appreciate this touch from Roberto Baggio it's ridiculous

That's just pure insanity. The strike in the beginning too, it's really rare to see players these days just go for it from that distance. All tippy tappy passing and going nowhere 90% of the time.

Completely agree. Absolutely wonderful player. Such a shame that he's almost better know for some of the less good things he's done. He's better than Messi & Ronaldo for me (who are both wonderful players). Maradona could just doe things that are near impossible and make them look so easy.
less good things.
that's one way of putting it. 😁

Nah, don't see how he can be better than Messi.

I guess you drop messi into those teams on those pitches with those tackles and you see ? It's a different game , imagine Maradona with today's fitness in a team made for him on those pitches with less contact = god

I don't really buy that argument though, it's all relative isn't it?

Messi is just another level for me, consistently averaged a goal a game or better for like 10 years while being an amazing playmaker too.

He could do almost everything, you could almost argue he's the best finisher, dribbler, passer and free kick taker of all time.

I don't agree, many would though.. but Maradona is the greatest ever footballer for me
