It's a pretty strange move though, other than for the money. Red Star had European football. Why not stay there?
Nearly all players move for money. Very few move for 'footballing reasons'. This is the reality fans have to accept.

Trying to get the best players we can with the money available, we're going to get scooped some times especially by the Prem teams out to hoard players or get around FFP. Fair play to the club for trying
I am confused though that eight people agreed with the original post, but no one has criticised the owner for this🤷‍♂️

Well, Gyokeres is one of those few and it's proven to be bang on the right decision. Likewise Jude Bellingham.

Pity more players don't look beyond their immediate future when making transfer choices

Yeah, I get that. Do genuinely think his long term earning potential would've been improved having a couple of years playing with us than a couple of years on the bench at Olympiacos & Forest.

Vik and Matt O'Riley are the only ones I can think of that likely took less money now for the potential to be better later.

I agree, but here we are. Footballer sees larger contract, football signs larger contract is the ending to the story 99% of the time.

Cynical take. Forest is a better move for him and as a player with UCL experience, I don’t blame him if he hesitated and opted against moving to the Championship.

More money, obviously but an agent and player holding out for a better team is normal.

Good riddance to him, I want players who believe we’re the best team for their progression and want to join us on our journey. All in or nothing from here!

Nah

If he does well at Forest he could be on his way to an elite club. Even if he knocked it out the park for us it’s only clubs around Forest’s position that would be interested anyway.

Vik seems like a smart guy with his career mapped out in his head. Can't remember who was in for O'Riley other than Celtic so I'll have to take your word, but its worked out well for him.
Most footballers in reality are not particularly smart and just follow the money.

Not necessarily, as Vik showed. We can't compete with a Prem club of course, but career wise Forest should be a red flag for any player, you're more likely to end up on the scrapheap than progressing.

He’ll probably never play for Forrest. They sign 30 players a year. He’ll be forgotten about by the time his loan ends.

The O'Riley one was rejecting a new Fulham Deal to go MK Dons

I see that Forest have decided to spend 5.5 mill on a player and don't look at a freebie in Callum! 😉

Also never forget the famous Scott 'Scotty' Canham who turned down a new contract at West Ham in favour of Brentford...

What is a shame is that the club will have spent quite a lot of money cultivating this deal acf it’s gone to shit so less money for next deal - Forest for relegation 🤩

Right. So worst case at Forest he stalls.

If he fails with us or, god forbid, we go down L1 then he’ll be in a significantly worse position.
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't need convincing about picking a PL club over a Championship one on the face of it. But that one is a much bigger gamble than the rest when you look at where most of their 5 million signings have ended up and that the owner is clearly shady as fuck.

One thing though, if he fails he hasn't failed at Forest, he has failed at Olympiacos and that is a lower level to fail at.

We may be in Forest's position in a years time.

Good luck to the kid. I wasn’t blown away by his videos but people seem to think he has a high ceiling. Time will tell I suppose. No hard feelings, better contract offer comes in, we would all take it.

Trust the recruitment team to have others in the pipeline.
