Cracking signing if true. I feel like this is complementary to Sheaf and indicative of a switch to a more flat 3 or one with a defensive midfielder opposed to an attacking one. If we get him in along with another box to box like Marc Leonard or Alvyn Sanches our midfield will be set. Get Sorba Thomas and another striker in and that's our midfield + attack.

Two holding midfielders who would normally be expected to be in the first team seems unlikely, so the assumption has to be that Sheaf is off. In which case we should be making a profit, and hopefully an upgrade
Sheaf +Stamenic double pivot, stick Torp in front of them, Wright/EMC and Sakamoto on wings. Sounds good to me

This guy has played box to box and AM according to the NZ guy.

Even if he is signed to be DM, I could see Sheaf being moved to CM Declan Rice style which would make us very solid.

Maybe I’ve got a case of wishful thinking.

Ah yeah I forgot he’s not playing for an NZ club 🙈😂 Either way how do we go about securing a player before the window opens? Can you sign like a pre-contract contract or something?

I think they can agree it but cant complete it until the window opens, thats just a guess

The point is that we won’t be in a position to maximise the value as much as you could do this summer.
the best way to maximise sheaf's value is for him to play for us, and help us get promoted.

if he has to go, next summer is fine. let's not panic.

Done deal or not, I’m just thinking logically here: where would we be getting £5.5 mil from without at least expecting an incoming fee for a player we have?

Think we have to be realistic, here. It could indicate that Sheaf is indeed on his way, and that’s it’s been done under the radar.

I can already see a lot of disappointment to come, if this is the case, as I’m seeing many of us still expecting Sheaf to be here alongside Stamenic. 🤷‍♂️

It’s all guess work. None of us on here know what money has actually been spent from previous transfers etc or what the club have to spend, and I’d rather keep it that way.

Firstly. Its €5m so around £4m. I also get the impression King is more happy to subsidise fees for players than increase the wage budget. If you spend 4m on a 22 year old now then the likelihood is that you will be able to sell them on for more. Signing a 30 year old on 20k per week is not an investment

How so?

Most of Vik’s went on Wright, Simms, Tatsu, Thomas, Lati, Collins…

Where did the money for EMC, Torp and now Stamenic come from?

If Stamenic and Browne come in, and we sell Sheaf for say 12-14M.
That will leave us with Torp, Stamenic, Eccles, Allen and Browne competing for the 2-3 positions in the team. Pretty strong.
It will also give us some cash to get in more quality additions. CB, WF and LB.

Or we keep Sheaf and become formidable in the middle of the park!

Eccles and one of only EMC & Wright. A lot of talent sitting on the bench. Doubt if we will have that luxury

I think a lot of our deals could be more inflated than what we’ll be paying in reality. I think we’ve added big add ons for each player depending on us reaching the Premier League etc
