Can we save the Marlon King abuse until he has actually left? He hasn't gone yet and only a week ago you were worshipping the ground he walked on when you thought he was signing here. It's only speculation it may not be true! We will find out in the next couple of days I'm sure. The fans have whinged and whinged about zero transparency from the board - even though it makes good sense to keep your cards close to your chest and the King saga is a perfect example of the reason they can't be too open with the fans. As Ranson always used to say damned if you do and damned if you don't.

As for anyone who got King on their shirts - well that's just silly there was always a good chance he wasn't going to stay! No sympathy for them I'm afraid.

Because a week ago we'd been told he was gonna stay! He's going ffs what's wrong with everyone!

Did King actually ever come out in the press and say he was staying? No - we just have the word of one of our illustrious board members that he said it, maybe it was a passing comment or taken out of context or just a blatent lie by the club but before that statement did anyone realistically hold out any hope that King was going to stay? I think we were all resigned to his departure to wealthier more ambitious pastures and the statement from the club simply raised our hopes, sold some shirts and season tickets and now all the blame and vitriol is directed at a player who never publicly stated he was staying and not at a board that yet again mishandled the PR.

The original quote came from Thorn himself who had an off the record conversation with Marlon who said he was staying for two more years that is all.

I read that Brum are offering him a three year contract, but we only offered a two year contract. Perhaps we'll get him back on a free transfer in 2014!

As far as I'm concerned I renewed my season ticket on the assumption that King, Westwood and Gunnar were all leaving so I'm not as gutted as some on here but when you're hopes have been raised by the club that our star player is staying only for said player to go elsewhere, thats what I have a problem with. Don't announce anything until the bloody contract is signed!

Dont you just love City fans! Slag off a player you still hope will stay at the club... great move! Many of these fans cried out for the board to be more open and when they are, and clearly say its a verbal not a written agreement, they get slagged off for announcing this! No wonder all our best players leave with such fickle fans.

perhaps the board shouldn't make such bold announcements BEFORE the contract is signed. I think both parties are in the wrong . If King goes back on his word then that is wrong and it was wrong of the club to make such a big song and dance about a verbal agreement

So basically all what the club, fans and staff have done for King the past year he has just thrown it back in our face and make a mockery out of our club.
I wouldn't be as annoyed if King made his intentions clear from the beginning that he was looking for a new club, more that fact he agreed to return and then went back on his word.
I doubt King really did want to stay and it was all some clever strategy from King and his agent to get other clubs interested.
I would love him to stay still but if he leaves he has basically pissed all over our club.

I don't feel bitter towards the board, thorn or indeed MK. Life is life, i was happy thorn made the anouncement that he was staying as like most, i hate pre-season and scratch around for every bit of news i can find. MK will do (as most people) what is best for him and his family, i was hoping he would stay beacuse he was settled and i thought that would be best for him however, his "agent/friend/hangeron" has been hawking him all over, i assume that is why he wasn't happy mk said he was staying. we offered 2 years, blues offered 3 and more money we can't compete. Maybe the club will go back and offer more....who knows. It's done. We move on.
We survived when we lost Keano, Dublin, huckerby, hartson and any other talent we had that the big spenders wanted, i am sure we will again.

Gutted, but if he doesn't want to play for my club, i trust thorn will get someone who does!

It wasnt a bold announcement. The press release clearly said it was only a VERBAL agreement. If fans choose to beleive that is cast iron guaranteed thats their problem. IN this instance the board have kept fans informed and done nothing wrong in terms of misleading or over publicising information.

Feel for Brody on twitter who is getting an enormous amount of abuse from Cov fans... Here are some of the things he has been saying :

''I honestly don't know..but I am getting a bit tired of it. We have made it clear we want him. If he doesn't want to come back then it is time to move on...I hope he does. But this club has to be stronger...'' My honest opinion is that I think the 'agents' have caused a muck here. I believe he wants to come back..I just don't know...Marlon is a good guy...I have never met Tony...but he told the press we didn't offer 3 years..we did!!''

Regarding the ton of abuse hes getting at the moment... : ''Frankly, this whole experience has me wondering whether communicating with fans here is even worth it... It takes an incredible amount of time..and abuse, and frankly, we are not really being rewarded for it.. I need to really think about whether I am going to continue doing this...sad. ''It is 1am and I am sitting here talking to fans. What other club Director does that?''

Seems like it was the so called agent/advisor that turned Marlon's head when he was set on signing for city and persuaded him to join the brummies just because the he could pocket some extra agent fees. Agents completely ruin football and this is why there should be no place for them in the game.
As for the fans assault on Brody... The FANS asked for more opennes and they got it! Now they are all turning to a man who simply was just trying to keep them informed and not keep them in the dark.

Absolutely ridiculous how fickle fans can be.

I mainly agree with what you've said but it can hardly come as a surprise. Most fans are idiots, in fact most people are idiots and as the internet attracts more than the usual quantity of anonymous cyber warriors.

I guess that he was always setting himself up for this. He must be aware that the more sensible side of the support appreciate this despite remaining silent. Tbf he should be able to ignore the abuse and rise above it, although of corse human nature wants you to bite back. I've never used twitter, but I imagine that he could just set the abusers to "ignore" status?

If he's made himself available to all and sundry on the internet and things go wrong, what does he expect. Everyone wants answers? Our club is a shambles and you can't blame people for wanting answers. It's called having passion for something!

But you can be passionate whilst also being productive or at least not hurling mindless abuse. It's right to question what goes on, but the people screaming at Brody to fuck off - what's the point?

Whats this about Kings agent on CWR? Something about matching Brums offer and he will stay? I didn't hear it myself, just read it on FB. Anyone know anymore?

I agree with you in the sense that people want answers and they deserve to know whats going on but when someone has done all he can to keep the player at the club and has kept the fans informed, he should at least be expecting to receive constructive criticism on what has gone wrong instead of mindless abuse directed at him.

Has there ever been a player leave any club that doesn't get slated by the fans?
Everyone of yours that leaves has been shit according to so many on GMK.

Interesting to see the slating he now gets when you all kept quiet while he played for you.

If this is true it then rolls over to the question, do you think CCFC should break the bank (£6k per week, Carsley wages) to keep MK9?

Well said that man

IF he goes all we can do is make sure we take a good turn-out to St Andrews like in the FA Cup last season and outsing Brums poor support (it's worse then ours considering they have a quality team at this level!!) and try to take 6 points from them like we did when they won promotion that season. All these fans who claim to be passionate I hope you make the effort to get to these games and get behind the players instead of using up all of your 'passion' moaning about the CCFC board on here
