Match Day Programme (1 Viewer)

With the development from the EFL stating that it is no longer mandatory for EFL clubs to issue match day programmes I was wondering what your thoughts are regarding the Sky Blue Programme.
The club say that they are going to continue producing them (I assume sales are falling generally) which I'm glad about as I always buy one.
I generally flick through it at half time and often give it away to my Dad or kids after the game. I think the problem with programmes these days are that the information contained in them is usually all over the internet and maybe this is why they no longer sell in the numbers they once did.
You get a message from the manager and a message from the board and usually some historical article which are quite interesting although I find the fixtures and previous results the most useful.
In the "old days" they used to have crosswords with prizes and Cup tokens etc etc
Do you guys buy one?
Any ideas how they could be improved or more relevent?

I always used to get one before the internet. The back 2 page spread of match stats was important and interesting as you couldn't get it anywhere else. I also used to love getting the Pink paper at Cov station after the game and a few pints in the Rocket. It was the only way to find all the results without a tranny radio. Anyone under 30 probably has no idea what I'm talking about!
Life before the internet n smartphones eh? I kinda miss it.

I buy one and always will. I like to have books, magazines, DVDs, vinyl records, photos in frames or albums, physical examples of stuff. They don't seem real to me in digital form or the cloud or wherever.
Old school, I know. I tried a digital mark book as a teacher for a whole year. Felt totally lost as I couldn't picture or frame the information and didn't remember it however many times I referred to it so went back to a physical file with marksheets and record info by hand or print it out. Just the way we learn and too fixed to unlearn the mental processes involved.
My trove of programmes goes back to the 60s and it can be great to look back.
The programme needs a revamp though. More articles and photos of current players and fan features. They should take photos at every game and have a fan gallery next programme. More links to online features and content too.

not bought one in years.,the modern age has taken over. Same as not bought a newspaper or magazine. As soon as its printed its out of date.

In short, If its a cost to the club, get rid. If it earns us money, keep it

Newspapers may well wither and die but book sales are holding firm, magazines too. Vinyl has made a comeback and photograph albums will probably revive. The digital world will not replace print media. They will run alongside each other.

Certainly haven’t got to grips with ebooks. I would much sooner have the paper versions.
I haven’t bought programmes for the past two seasons. I used to buy them all of the time and like yourself have a collection going back to the sixties. Problem was I just wasn’t reading them. Also buying a publication that had occasional contributions from Tim Fisher went against the grain.

I always hold books firm, but never magazines as the ink comes off on my hands.
However, I never run while I'm holding either.

Pretty sure ours has won awards , so it’s one of the better ones. Mine is included for free ( or built into the cost let’s say ) for the corporate Lounge , but the kids always have a flick through it and like the player interviews... I’d rather have a pint thrown into each match instead though, if they do stop the program

I do think there is a case to charge for a downloadable one though. That would be great.

Nowt to carry apart from your phone, plus the bonus of having bang up to date info and it could be updated an hour before kick off with the team news too.

Think it would be quite popular and of course it could include manager and player video interviews.

Looking at the coupons in the corner that could be something to include. Maybe some voucher or electronic QAN code thingee which could win goodies such as signed shirts or count towards season tickets or cup match priority.
