King as Captain... interesting, still think it will be McPake. Any news on Clinger, or is he still a couple of weeks off returning? Although I do like the midfield you've put in, be good to see Eastwood back in the side. I'm still scared of the old city returning and with these next three fixtures I really hope this doesn't become a reality. I'm hoping for a 2-1 win as well, with king and Sheffs to score.

well it depends, my dad works for the club on match days so he gets a couple of free tickets a few times a year, though if we use them we have no choice over the location of the seats. Generally they would be block 35/36 at the front, which isn't much fun, so the last few times i've visited i just bought tickets in 18/19 so i had a decent view and that. Not decided yet what to do yet, any suggestions? Don't really mind paying as i have a bit of cash atm!

If you like joining in with the chants then Block 15 and 16, which are also the cheapest seats. If not the telegraph stand behind the goal is probably a good bet as the middle of the tesco stand is quite expensive!

Wood would like captain's armband
With Coventry City's captain Lee Carsley suspended for one match, the manager Aidy Boothroyd has to appoint a temporary captain for tomorrows home game against Norwich City.
One of the candidates for wearing the armband is former skipper Richard Wood, although the defender admits there are several candidates for the job.
Wood normally plays as a central defender, but with the current absence of a left back, he has been doing an admirable job in the problem position and every time he has filled in as left back, the team has gone on to win.
“The gaffer loves stats like that so I’ll mention it to him," joked Wood. “I’d love to be captain. I did it a few times last season and I enjoyed it, but that’s up to the gaffer and there are plenty of other candidates in the team, players who are experienced leaders.
“Really you want eleven captains on the field every match but I’m more than happy to take it.”
The City boss Boothroyd agreed with Wood, saying “We’ve got a number of players who could be captain but it’s only going to be for the one game and I don’t want to put too much emphasis on the decision because whenever you give somebody something you’re taking it away from other people."
“It’s important when I do say who’s going to be captain that the other ten know why I’ve made that decision and there are a lot of factors to take into account. Some people talk a lot on the pitch, others lead by example and we’ve got a lot of them."
“Lee Carsley is all-purpose. He’s been there and done it, he has massive respect from the all the players, us and the opposition and the referees know what he’s all about. He’s an excellent professional and he’s not afraid to tell people where they’re going wrong."
"That’s one of the biggest things about being a captain, we all want to be liked, but for me it’s far more important to be respected.”
Although Wood is far from a natural left back and he has made a few errors, the side has done well when he has played there and he has done well for his team.
“It’s not my preferred position,” admitted Wood, “but I’m playing so I’m happy and if I can show I’m versatile it makes me available for more positions.
“Although I played there a few times for Sheffield Wednesday I’m a centre-half and I think most people can see that when I’m playing left back and I’ve got the ball, but I’m experienced now so I know what it’s all about and I think I can do a decent job there.
“I’m not going to say I’m a brilliant left back but you’ll get a steady job from me and I think the gaffer has trust in me which is why he’s playing me there.”


With four successive clean sheets City are now hoping to make it five in a row, the first time that has happened for nine years.The club record of six games without conceding was set 76 years ago in 1934.
Wood is trying to remain calm about extending the run run, saying, “As defenders that’s what we want so we’ll be out to make if five, six, seven and carry on from there."
“Everybody’s buzzing that we’re doing well but we really will take it one game at a time and we’ve got three massive fixtures coming up with Norwich, Cardiff and QPR. The gaffer is on at us all the time, putting pressure on us to do better, and that has instilled confidence in us."
“We were all over the place in the first half at Reading but we weathered the storm and sorted ourselves out. Because of the way we’ve been playing there’s a lot of confidence in the side at the moment and we can grind out results even if we’re not playing particularly well.
“Every game is difficult but if we could get three points against Norwich that would give us a nice little gap on them. Norwich are a good passing team so they will cause us problems, but we know we can cause problems to any side in this league so as long as we keep performing how we have been I don’t see why we can’t get another win.
“For me Christmas is the best part of the year. The games come thick and fast, and the way the fixture list has worked out this season they are all important games so I think that going into the New Year we’ll be better able to judge what sort of season we’re going to have.”
