I dont have a link so may be untrue but i did read this somewhere myself the other day
A forum is a discussion. Not trying to argue with ya.Show me where I said it is impossible that he will sign in time. A thought is just that. A thought. It isn't an invitation for hen pecked men to try and cause an argument they think they can win for once.
Curiously who is genuinely out of contract this summer without an option?Found it. Will update the thread.

So weird where we are with contracts to not have to panic about someone leavingWilson and Tavares?
Reminds me of an old posterIronic considering you want to try and argue against the grain on every single thread.

No on both I think but @shmmeee is you best bet to knowWhat about 2026, do we have an option on Sheaf and Sakamoto?

Yeah it's quite a nice feeling. Zero pressure to panic sell, puts us in a strong position. So weird where we are with contracts to not have to panic about someone leaving
Can’t see Wright going anywhere with our option to extend his deal by a yearYeah it's quite a nice feeling. Zero pressure to panic sell, puts us in a strong position.
You would imagine Sheaf, MvE and Wright will attract a lot of attention in the summer and will have ambition to move on, 3 big holes to fill but their collective value could be north of 35m. Should have very funds for recruitment at least.

I think it depends on how he comes back. A quiet end will see him stay, if we go on a crazy run and everything he touches goes in and we’re still in the championship, clubs will be askingCan’t see Wright going anywhere with our option to extend his deal by a year
An injection of £30mil+ into what is a better squad than when Vik and Gus got sold would be exciting right?Yeah it's quite a nice feeling. Zero pressure to panic sell, puts us in a strong position.

True but I just feel the club will price him out of what is seen as reasonable. Think the ITKs have indicated we have set a high price for him internallyI think it depends on how he comes back. But you know what will happen don't you, someone will come in for those players in the summer window and then there will be a last minute scrabble to replace them. Never be complacent.Yeah it's quite a nice feeling. Zero pressure to panic sell, puts us in a strong position.

Bingo! That hasn't happened previously. Recruitment has been vindicated, signings have been excellent and grown in value - Wright, Simms, EMC, Sakamoto, Rudoni, Torp, Thomas, Dovin, etc. Even players like Kitching are beginning to look like good signings, whilst the likes of BTA and Bassette will need more time.
No on both I think but @shmmeee is you best bet to know
Agree - I've being saying this for a while when everyone kept saying we'd wasted £45m. The fact is we received big fees for Hamer and Gyokeres because they were special players. If you wanted to replace like for like then you need to spend the same on 2, we've spread it on 10 players, some of whom we hope grow to be as good, but are by no means the finished product and in some cases may never exceed the value we paid, but I'd wager their combined current value is already ahead of what we paid for them and instant success was never really likely, just a stick to beat Austin and King with.
As mentioned above that is not how we operate nowadays. We'll have targets in mind already I would imagine. But you know what will happen don't you, someone will come in for those players in the summer window and then there will be a last minute scrabble to replace them. Never be complacent.

If the 'signings have been excellent' why have we been struggling at the wrong end of the table all year and had to sack a manager? That hasn't happened previously. Or course, I am sure there are targets and replacements in mind and actively researched for every position. Thats what recruitment function is all about. As mentioned above that is not how we operate nowadays. We'll have targets in mind already I would imagine.

A few wins and people lose their minds.
I agree on Wright. If he has aspirations of playing in the World Cup, which he surely would have, then leaving would be a huge gamble for him in my eyes. There would be no guarantee he would get the game time he would need moving to a higher level, and lets be honest, the Championship hasn't done any harm to the likes of Sargent getting into the squad. I think it would be better for him to stay and keep catching the eye and banging goals in with us personally if the World Cup is the number 1 priority. As mentioned above that is not how we operate nowadays. MvE is already getting pretty strong interest so we will have a list of targets ready to go.
We are about to sign Grimes so if Sheaf goes we can look to getting in a few prospects maybe.
Wright is a a weird one for me, the World Cup is in the US the end of next season. I'd imagine there will be a push from his agent to get him a bigger stage as he'll be desperate to secure a squad space. But there is a chance he might feel more confident staying where he is settled
For all the shite King gets he has re-invested transfer funds, there is no reason why that would stop. Next evolution for me is to do what Brighton do by doubling up positions with quality prospects as backup. That's the real challenge.
What about 2026, do we have an option on Sheaf and Sakamoto?
There have been a few rumblings in the press about how many of the US squad is playing in secondary leagues around the world, I'm not sure if this narratives coming from Poch or what but there is a risk agents might start pushing.I agree on Wright. It was never a bad squad. We finished 9th last season and ought to have finished higher. This offseason we’ve improved on that squad so 9th really is a minimum expectation. That hasn't happened previously. We are not privy to behind the scenes goings on, I liked MR and have nothing but respect for him but the management team made a decision that has so far proved correct. Take a look at some of the Stoke city media interviews with Robins, they have a certain dejavu element to them.We didn't HAVE to sack the manager.
We've built our way into the season. You know, the same way we did last season, and the season before that. When everyone was losing their minds because we hadn't spent the entire first half of the season at the top of the table.
I watch the team play every week, and they look like a talented group to me who can deliver quality performances. That hasn't always shown this season, but is becoming more of a standard.
