At the time i think Barry Fry was saying he was laughing all the way to the bank.
He never, I think that was after we got promoted and they had a promotion bonus in his contract.

They had Eisa and Ivan Toney at the time who they stuck with, fair to say the faith in the latter paid off on the pitch and financially.

Toney is an interesting one.
They paid 650k for him.
Sold him for £6.5....with loads of add on potentially rising to £10...

But there was a mouth watering 30% sell on clause. So potentially £3M to Newcastle.

So its not a staggering amount of money they made on him £4m ?

Considering what hes worth now. And the fact he would have kept them in championship.

Our players continue to surprise us.

To score goals at this level require nerves of steel.

Watch his goals....left foot or right 90 plus minutes. His first touch is his shot. Doesnt take unessacary touches.

Hes been immense.

Oh dont forget that cross for Viktor vs Fulham, wont see a better cross all season.

Also in my eyes had a perfectly good second goal vs Derby denied by lino.

Out of interest you seen the angle from the side where he was definitely off? Other than that fully agreed

I got a bit annoyed yesterday when people were saying that Godden is just a finisher and doesn’t really offer much else. Watch him when he doesn’t have the ball but we’re in possession or even when we’re defending corners and he’s on the half way line. He is constantly moving around and must be a nightmare for defenders as he never gives them a moment to switch off. Don’t forget the amount of pressing he does out of possession either.

he was a league 1 player when they sold him wasn’t he?

Yes they sold him then signed Clarke Harris who scored the goals to take them up

The profit from players sold was £4.6 million and it was clearly a good strategy and it provided funds to make promotion the following season. They were promoted by the looks of it with a smaller wage bill than ours

Had my doubts, especially about his pace and lack of impact when we’re not on top but you just can’t argue with that goal return, even if there’s a lot of pens in there. I was thinking yesterday who else I’d want to take pens and there’s literally no one so can’t really complain there either.

He won a foot race yesterday as well!

Even when the keeper goes the right way he hits it with enough power for that not to matter. Just how it should have been at the Euros

He’s ok but I don’t agree with the contract extension - it’s not forward planning for success

Not so much Eisa though. He's had a poor time of it since the days he was playing for Cheltenham against us in League 2.

6 goals in 9 appearances is ok.

Presumably that is what we needed to give him for him to sign. Would you prefer we said no and signed Biamou or Bakayoko instead?

Loads was said about the rise of Biamou from the French non-league but Godden was playing in the conference south in 2016 and is not scoring goals in the Championship.

That's a brilliant career.

My only gripe about Godden is his celebrations. He needs to make his mind up. Is he a plane or is he lawn mowing. After the penalty he seemed to launch into the air to do a CR7 realised what he was doing and changed his landing accordingly! The third saw him whooping and stripping. Sort it out Matty.

If he keeps scoring goals,he can run around naked for all i care.

I didn't even realise people doubted him and no surprise to me to see him doing well. Imo he has everything but pace and if he had that too, then I believe he is clinical enough to even be a Premiership striker.

In our league 1 promotion season, Grendel said that Godden wouldn’t get into any other top 6 squad in league 1 lol

It gets better - here Harvey rates Biamou ahead of Godden - this is funnier than any of his stand up routines

hahah you’ve got me with my irrational and hyperbolic love of Biamou. I think that’s a W to you this time you prick 😂😉

but… you have to admit that Godden is good enough to get into a top 6, league 1 squad?

I know he'd walk into every single team in that league

Another fantastic signing by MR and Badlan. £750k that fired us our of L1 after being down there for an eternity.

It's fantastic that now Gyo is being double teamed we've put Godden in who only needs a half chance to score.

Need six men just to mark our front three at the moment.

But pace isn’t always about running speed, speed of thought comes into it and in the area Godden is quick witted and sharp over two or three yards

Agree about the 2nd goal vs Derby. 2 points robbed I say.
