Thanks for clarifyingYes but single shot xG or single game xG isn't much use, the whole point of xG is over a large dataset. That said, he has the highest xG & npxG per 90 in our team, which is encouraging that he's getting into good positions, but simply put he's not taking the chances.
He actually ranks in the top 5 players in the league for npxG per Shot so these are really good chances but he is actually in the bottom 10 for npG:xG ratio.
Which I guess backs up what we're saying. In that we know that he doesn't contribute much to our general play, and is in for his finishing. But he isn't finishing the good chances he is getting. And my point which was he isn't scoring the crucial match winning goals at the minute - football is often about the fine margins and big moments.Yes but single shot xG or single game xG isn't much use, the whole point of xG is over a large dataset. In terms of free sites, FotMob & particularly FBRef are your best bets. Thanks for clarifying
What site you using so I can keep it on my pc
Ok.It's the quality of chances basically , we are 10th in the league for xg we are underperforming slightly on it View attachment 28958
Think there's a fair debate about what he offers other than goals. I think his role has changed a bit with the way we're playing now - especially in the absence of O'Hare but what's undeniable is his finishing isn't at his usual standard. This is the first time since we've been back in the Championship that he hasn't outperformed his xG.Which I guess backs up what we're saying. I also feel that his workrate is often overlooked too , but hey .. some people say that's just runningThink there's a fair debate about what he offers other than goals. Great what about the other 22 games he's played in?The fine margin against Millwall and Hull was Simon Moore playing like a pitch invader.
So we are now at , godden has been shit every match he's played in ?Great what about the other 22 games he's played in?

That's not what I've said at all. You're seeing something that isn't there. That's more bizarreSo we are now at , godden has been shit every match he's played in ?
Think we are bordering on bizarre now
He is but the XG isn't large to begin with , per 90 he's under performing by 0.13 or so .. it's minimal stuff
They aren't huge sitters basically
surprisingly it's 0.76%Is a penalty some kind of 90% XG or don’t they get counted like that?
Isn't it as much Robins trusts him based on past performances? He's clearly got a good attitude too - it's him and Dabo were the indispensables, you can probably add Allen to that list now as well, players that do exactly what they're asked to do, put their hands up even if not 100% fit, and keep going for the team even if in a dip.Fair enough , so what's goddens role then ? We all know if he wasn't playing to instructuctions he'd be pulled out , as we've seen with others in the past
He was very sharp at the open training session.Assume Walker must be poor in training or something as everytime he's contributes in games, he then gets frozen out in subsequent matches
If Gyokeres leaves then we will need to buy two more decent strikers with the money. We couldn’t possibly rely on Godden or Walker as our main strike force .
Wouldn’t mind seeing Liam Delap or Cole Palmer come on loan. Liam hasn’t really had a proper run at Preston and just coming on here and there, scored bags of goals in the Man City U’23s. Cole Palmer not getting game time in the first team obviously so will probably need to go out on loan next season.
It’s all well and good looking at their stats and saying yeah they have played this many games but only scored this many goals but it’s not a clear picture as he’s only playing 5 mins a game so it throws their stats out. They’ve both bagged a serious amount of goals in youth leagues so they’ve got the eye for goal but just not getting the minutes.
Sometimes the right management can get the best out of a player like we’ve been mentioning on this forum recently and perhaps Adi & Robbins could do for someone like Delap what they did with Gyokeres.

You'd only want him for 3rd choice based on what he has done at Stoke and Preston.Delap has been terrible for Stoke and Preston.
That's not to say that Robins couldn't get a tune out of him, as you say. But he has been genuinely rubbish even if you ignore the stats.

Agreed played fantastic, him and Wright look really good partnership.Well he had his best all round game in the championship today - outstanding performance
Proved today that he's not just a goal scorer. He was heavily involved at Leicester too. Looks fit and ready.Well he had his best all round game in the championship today - outstanding performance
Could turn out to be a big player for us this season , on that formWell he had his best all round game in the championship today - outstanding performance
Was talking Simms and Wright through the game , they will both improve playing alongside himProved today that he's not just a goal scorer. He was heavily involved at Leicester too. Looks fit and ready.
To be fair that's his first goal from open play since Millwall last season, which was 573 minutes before todays goal, and for someone who has to play because he's the man you want on the end of a chance, he's missed some really good chances in that period. He played well today, but he needs to back it up now.Very good today.
As others have said, he just looks that but sharper. Obviously helps that he's playing more his natural role again now too rather than a foil for Vik.
Was never worried about the missed chances, good strikers always come through patches like that. Still not keen on the fingers in ears but can understand his thoughts.
