Given that MG was offered and has signed a new contract just confirms what I have suspected for some time... that SBT is full of idiots who don't understand football and think that now we have a few quid to spend, Godden is suddenly shit and surplus to requirements. MR clearly disagrees with that view.

I don’t think anyone has ever said that, most people have said he’s a good option off the bench.

Decent move. Depth in sqaud and keeps fight for starting places alive. Options on bench then to change games. Taveres coming back soon will also help i think.

A lot of clubs really seem to be struggling to get strikers in at the minute. Feel we timed the Gyokeres sale and getting Simms in perfectly. On the face of it we have three pretty decent strikers all under contract now.

I wouldn't say better I thought he had more potential but he could never turn that in to reality.

Agreed. You could argue that Walker didn’t get enough opportunities but when he did (with the very odd exception) he lacked any kind of application. Something that didn’t change on loan at Portsmouth.

Godden should’ve scored on Sunday and there were games last season where his production was minimal but you can never fault his work rate.

100% agreed I liked walker a lot and thought he'd go far deffo one of the ones I got wrong!

Godden at times frustrated me playing up front with Gyökeres as they seemed on different wave lengths and you could see him get frustrated and his head drop a bit. I think he's a limited striker in that he has specific strengths you would need to play to and we weren't playing to them so much. Will be interesting to see if any of the new parings work out. Oh and if he stays fit!

To be fair Gyokeres is probably on a different wavelength to most players. He’s selfish (which is a plus point of his) and his first thought when receiving the ball is to drive towards goal. He’s not really one for linkup play.

Godden and Simms combined a few times on Sunday quite nicely, layoffs and playing each other in etc.

Gyokeres is a 20 million pound player .. now Euopean footballer and full international .

Godden and simms are not on that level , and our fans need to stop comparing them

I did often see godden drift in to spaces vik couldn't pick him out in while hamer drifted in to open space. I do feel the selfish vik not looking to set up others is a little overplayed.

He deserves a bit of stick after the weekend it doesn't mean people all of a sudden think he's shite just could have played better in that match. He's a decent enough option on the bench but I don't think he's a starter if we are serious about promotion.
Very true, but any kind of stick on here sends the bedwetters into total meltdown.

If you point out the obvious that Simms was utter shite, they can't handle it, but the fact is he offered less than Tyler Walker who we let go for fuck all.

That's not to say that Simms won't come good, score 20+ goals and be a fans favourite. It's just saying he was shite against Leicester. (As was Godden)

Crazy of you think walker offered more than Simms did on Sunday.

Walker wouldn't even touch the ball half the time

But

According to posters on here, Walker was better than Godden!!!!
You can't just make up stats like that. You mean you saw a poster say it once in reality lol

From my experience on this forum no way was walker more rated than godden overall by majority of posters.

I liked what I saw from Simms in terms of vision I think he could be an intelligent player that with someone on his wavelength could do well but he left his scoring boots in the same place as Godden. Also taking his scoring record in to account I'd be very surprised if he isn't a decent player for us.
