maybe we are going back in for said players in January?I'm not sure what you're saying here?
My point is that he is saying we have reached a limit, which would make sense had we signed those 2 players on day. But we didn't...
The way I read the Palmer situation was that it was always potentially on the cards, but the actual specific deal only materialised last minute. So there was some element of surprise. Robins also obviously didn't feel there was any point in blocking the move even if we'd wanted to because KP's head was elsewhere.Robins does seem to be saying some slightly contradictory stuff the last few weeks. Not sure if he is just trying to manage expectations.
Eg. I think a lot of people knew Palmer was on the way out. Robins seemed to imply this was sprung on the club. Suspect he's just trying to manage PR on this because the club never got a replacement in.
Yes we forgot to include Godden in that tooThere's more than an owner and manager involved in a transfer, you know that

It was poor business from the club.
It's given the dullards something to moan about for a few months . You'd think by some of the nonsense written that the club didn't try to sign anyoneThink it was poor timing rather than poor business.
Palmer was a pretty sizeable expense comparative to his output on the field. I'd imagine he was easily one of the higher earners at the club.
So when you take that into account, as well as his age, and the fact he only had one year left remaining on his deal, getting a respectable fee from Hull was good going.
It's just disappointing that no one came in the other way.
I don’t think letting Palmer go was a poor move at all. We got a fee for a squad player on an expiring contract and on expensive wages. It’s inconvenient for 4-5 months, but we should have greater flexibility in January with the freed up funds. The way I read the Palmer situation was that it was always potentially on the cards, but the actual specific deal only materialised last minute. How many points do we get for attempting to sign someone? It's given the dullards something to moan about for a few months . You'd think by some of the nonsense written that the club didn't try to sign anyone
You've lost me I'm afraidHow many points do we get for attempting to sign someone?
"We tried to sign someone but it didn't come off" is the football management equivalent of saying the dog ate your homework. You've lost me I'm afraid
So you think they are lying ? Weird"We tried to sign someone but it didn't come off" is the football management equivalent of saying the dog ate your homework.
It's either a lie or just incompetence. So you think they are lying ? Weird
It's either a lie or just incompetence.
Not sure what your point is.If it was publicly revealed every time the club had missed out on a transfer target during any given window you'd quickly realise how ridiculous that statement is.
Not sure what your point is.
We're desperately short in midfield now, not getting anyone in was an error.
And when he inevitably gets crocked again…It's not really an error, it's just football. The club tried repeatedly to bring in a midfielder and it didn't materialise - unfortunately as mentioned transfer windows very rarely ever pan out the way you want them to.
Yes, we're light in midfield but Sheaf is back soon so hopefully he can stay fit until January where we can hopefully look to the loan market.
So we should sign anyone ? Again weirdNot sure what your point is.

We can all say I told you so and feel very smug about itAnd when he inevitably gets crocked again…
Ahh a strikerHe was available all summer, went on strike to force a move

Same story every window though. This Jan we needed a winger, tried to get EMC in and failed. The planning needs to be better. It's not really an error, it's just football. Are transfer dealings that easy in your eyes ?Same story every window though. This Jan we needed a winger, tried to get EMC in and failed. The planning needs to be better.

Why make a point when you can add an unnecessary word to make a really valid pointDesperately short is just 5 senior midfielders for 3 spots. However will we manage.
I was just going to eat raw Weetabix in his honourWe can all say I told you so and feel very smug about it

In seriousness, I do agree with you here. Midfield is however the most important part of the pitch and ultimately, we’re still praying for Ben Sheaf to stay fit. That being the case is because we insisted on the perfect target at the expense of good ones.In three windows we've pretty much revamped our entire squad. The level of work that would've taken to get to where we are now really shouldn't be understated.
Certain things still need to click and the performances haven't been good enough but we're getting close to becoming a very well rounded team.
Better than what we have , not perfect .In seriousness, I do agree with you here. Midfield is however the most important part of the pitch and ultimately, we’re still praying for Ben Sheaf to stay fit. That being the case is because we insisted on the perfect target at the expense of good ones.
When it comes to transfer dealings all of us are ultimately guessingIf we have or will miss out on players like Matty James. because of financial restraints' surely we could have offered him a short term deal until January because if we had and our performance/results showed an upturn surely the extra revenue from more fans wanting to come and watch would more than pay a new player coming in, but I guess it depends on how much a player would want per week and maybe James wanted a tad too much !
