Actually got some solid info on this

Was explored back in July but of course we had other targets

First contact made Thursday after it became clear Kasey was leaving, James is keen, would love to come back and play in front of Cov fans as didnt during Covid. Still speaks regularly to Sheaf and Eccles.

Doesn't want silly money, we would be looking around 12 -15 a week, 1 year deal with another in clubs favour

Robins is very keen and wants to get it done, Doug blocked it as he "doesn't fit the model".

The poor performance of Saturday happened, Robins has stated again he wants him. James still keen, kept himself fit and is ready to go.

Big test for me this I feel. If James comes in it shows Robins really does still hold the reins.

If he doesnt, that would point to Doug being the man with more say on transfers than Robins

In my view anyway. I'm sure il be told I hate Doug etc

If Doug blocks him then next game at the CBS he has to play DM instead so we can all boo him

Sounds about right from Robins point of view and with a few quid being saved after Palmer leaving us can see it being a goer
Oh and you hate Doug 😝

Got that album on vinyl. Played it to death when I bought it in the 70s. Initially banned in this country because of the Irene Papas track where shes friggin herself off to a drumbeat !
The track 'The Four Horsemen' contained a riff that, years later, the Verve copied but were never taken to court for.
Imo, Aphrodites Child were the Greek Pink Floyd. Both Demis Rousos and Van Gellis were the core members and produced a terrific sound. Sadly missed
Great album!

He is mate, made it clear to Robins he would join in a heartbeat if Doug allows
Assume since this has now got out, there’s probably momentum towards him signing. If Doug has said no again surely they’d be no article.

Curiously do we know if Robins throws his weight around in regards to this as feel like he absolutely could and get his man with his stock.

If we managed to get Matty James and John Egan (Yes I know I'm dreaming a bit here with the latter), we then have 2 really good, experienced pro's to support the rest of the squad, would be huge. Sheaf to then come back in, platform to build on and allows us to get going and build momentum.

When Sheaf is out it is noticeable that there isn't a lot of leadership in forward areas . Eccles is starting to grow into that role and I wasn't adverse to his reactions on Saturday as you want players pissed when things aren't going well . Bassette also shows early signs too but players like Wright should be showing more .

But do they fit the model 🤔

Egan's gone somewhere I think probably still to the Prem?

Stuart Armstrong would also be a PERFECT replacement for Palmer, also adds experience and a bit of guile. Although looks like he's off to MLS.

He's gone and I've never been sold on him if I'm honest, seems another luxury player who lacks consistency

I think King needs to be pragmatic about the model.

This is the frustration isn't it. Alongside the complete aversion to loans

For me it's where it shows King is new to football and his understanding of it. It's all well and good having a model, and we're all glad we have it. But you can't treat a football club the same as other business, because not having experience or borrowed quality will mean (in my view) you won't get the desired outcome

Does anyone know where to find any stats which show how James compares to other players in his position last season?

Robins wouldn't be revisiting it if he didn't think it would help us definitely
