I have been reading the official statement and compared it with Nick's 'transcript' of the JE interview.
Official:
"We were therefore surprised and disappointed to learn that no principal investors were present and there is still no transparency as to their identity.
JE:
The group chairman of theinvestors was there, another investor was there also.
Everybody on here seems to believe a principal investor is the same as 'group chaiman', but the group chairman is not necessary an investor. And even if he is, he and 'the other investor' might only represent a very minor chunk of the total investor money in play. To spell it out, the investors Hoffman brought to the meeting might only represent 5% of the total money.
Official:
"There was a frank exchange of views. No formal offer was put on the table, which is what we had been asking for. Gary's previous indicative offer of a pound for the club is totally unacceptable.
JE:
GH gave them an offer on paper.
Did Hoffman simply hand over a copy of the first bid? That would be so arrogant I can fully understand if the chairman choose to dismis it as non existant.
Official:
"I can fully understand people being frustrated at the outcome of this meeting as it isbecoming a long and drawn-out saga.
JE:
It was a good meeting with views to moretalks!
Again words can be deceptive - in the official text the key words are: "it is becomming". So more talks are in the cards IF Hoffman presents the PRINCIPAL investor and come up with an offer worthy of negotiation.
