I think we are in for a very bumpy ride in the next few weeks/matches.
I have Brighton tickets but am really not looking forward to traveling down there for a tonking. Was going to Crewe aswell but am going off that idea too.
Games coming up against Wycombe/Mansfield and Luton will be tough and can only see three defeats. The games are then running out, I just hope we can limp over the line into the playoffs.

Bar Lincoln and Luton the home run in is against lower league teams If I remember but that doesn’t bode well given our performances against those below so far....

Others will faulter too and Notts County, Exeter and Luton are all more inconsistent since Xmas..

Agree with the OP and subsequent arguments against. Not sitting on the fence, and I tend to see the silver lining in most things. The main thing for me is whether MR can come up with a formation to create enough attacks for us to win a game. I saw a small glimmer of hope in that Reid whipped in a couple of decent crosses from the left. Kelly is just recovering from a layoff, so it is not surprising if he is not yet pulling up trees, and Bayliss (who we all wanted back in the middle) had a bad day at the Office (but this has been the exception rather than the rule). Most who went yesterday will not want Dion KE back at right back (sorry but his height cost us the first goal, and he struggled). MR picked pretty much the team the majority of us on here 'selected' beforehand, with the exception of Maguie-Drew (and some did pick him). It's now MR's job to get us up for Colchester - a game where, if we create nothing again, we will be right to be concerned for our prospects.Don't know how long Doyle is out for but I would not bring him back if he is not 100% (including the Brighton game)
If we don't go up this season, we should still have a relative 'war chest' (assuming SISU release it) as Maddison will almost certainly move from Norwich for big money (barring injury) as may Callum Wilson. Jodi Jones will be with us (or we will receive ££££s from his sale), as will Tony Andreu and Tom Davis.
If MR (if here) or whoever can't get us up next season it will be down to incompetence, but we should give him another season so he can build.

Because it's happened before this season and we have. To be honest I'm not the sort to cry into my beer after a defeat and I never have been. I'm not the kind of.fan who think it's all over after a defeat and think we are world beaters after a victory .

Nor do I but the concern is that this season should be a better chance of promotion than the season after.

When people talk about stability well we have players who’ll be here next season - Vincenti, Beavon, Haynes etc as no one will want them. Some, such as Jones, mcnulty, Bayliss are likely to jump ship.

I can’t fathom why a manager whose always concentrated in the last on forward players has a glut of defenders and defensive minded midfielders but, mcnulty aside, has not signed quality forwards for this division.

In the end if McNulty had an injury in October that kept him out for the season we’d be looking at games like Forest Green as a relegation six pointer.

We need to start playing like a 4th division team, getting stuck in, gamesmanship, time-wasting, cut and thrust football, just how Accrington play, in fact if John Coleman was willing to move on I’d be going all out to get him here as he has them playing the right way in this league.
I don’t think Robins has much of a game plan, he basically sets out his formation and let’s the players get on with it, we have to go back to basics imo, 4-4-2, get the ball out to the wingers and getting the crosses in, none of this pussy footing around like we do.
I honestly believe Robins is losing it and it’s just a matter of time until he’s gone. Like many have said, if we finish outside the top 7 he needs to walk or be fired.

We are what we've always been, consistently inconsistent.

Losing Doyle was a big blow, but I still think there's enough in this team to win a few more games yet.

As for Robins, he's neither world class nor a complete numpty and I don't see that continually cycling through managers has done anything for us.

My crystal ball tells me that we'll go into the last game of the season with at least a chance of making the play offs... further than that is a bit cloudy.

But then 5 wins out of 15 is not good enough if you have aspirations of a top 3 place and Robins has said promotion is the aim.

After his injury and yesterday’s performance, I realised how much we miss Grimmer - he is an outlet down that side. Also a fairly useful defender - DKE yesterday highlighted this.

The cup run has changed the focus of the players in my opinion - additional games that we really didn’t need in terms of focusing on promotion.

I know he’s only 18 but Bayliss was a disappointment yesterday, we all thought watching the FGR game that he needed to be in the middle so yesterday’s performances was a let down . Maguire-Drew needs to settle down and do the basics. Kelly for me is a reserve, never a first teamer. I like stokes but would like to see Haynes get a run in the team.

i can sympathise with all of the comments on here and i myself was quite upset about yesterday as i walked from the ground! but i really did expect it to play out like this. 28000+ crowd and this is Coventry play like shit! if we need to desperately win this is Coventry play like shit! its a bloody crying shame it really is. I took one look at Mcnulty & Bayliss and could see they were not very well and though to myself why is MR playing them? All through the match Kelly was so close to Bayliss whilst he was on the pitch it was if MR had said to him look after the youngsters help him get through the game and as for DKE who was injured prior to the match you could see the inevitable happening push the big guy up to him on the left, MR made the opposition managers life so easy it untrue. I was watching Accringtons left back in the first half and he was so shite i thought come on MR get Reid on to expose him as early as the first 10 minutes. Yesterday was all MR's fault he knew who was ill and who was injured but just did not have the Bollox to play the likes of JCH, Ponticelli, Reid,Hayes,Haynes from the off and he could have tried Barrett in the Middle of the park where he actually liks to play. No i am sorry but MR you are playing things too safe and as a result causing the team not to have a Plan of play and to just be sending players out is not a very good managerial decision. In Fact i could do that and get results and be an acclaimed messiah of CCFC this is why a really good manager earns his corn when facing adversity. Look at Accrington! Thrown ins near the opposition goal they get their players in exactly the same position everytime to receive the ball in dangerous areas, Corners the same again Time andTime again they setup exactly the same, they had a Plan thats been developed over the first part of the season and is now come to fruition where as ours has gone down the cludgie. Tuesday night against Colchester he knows Reid will be up for it! He know Stevenson will go into his shell if he get a meaty challenge on him within minutes of starting, he knows Colchester will get fustrated if we break up play by falling to the floor everytime a poor tackle is made or we take a long tim over throw ins, or Colchester fowrards will get ratty if the our centre backs lever them out of the way as they go up for a challenge but what will MR do!!!!

It was absolutely dire yesterday in front of 20,000+ fans.
One shot (which I can't remember) on target against what seemed to be a better team produced from lower resources.
We have limited resources in depth and that will be our downfall from now on.
We are well and truly in meltdown.

I seem to remember it starting against Hull City in our first season at the Ricoh when there was a deal on the admission price. There was a big crowd and we lost. Leeds, Crewe too. Different teams, different managers, same outcome. Shame, yesterday was a big opportunity to get some of the stayaways to come back.

Players like Kelly are 10 a penny. Barry Quinn, Stephen Hughes, Sammy Clingan, Bigi, Isaac Osbourne,Conor Thomas, Deegan,Jack Finch,Stevenson we’ve seen them all before.....

I remember similar at Highfield Road where we nearly always lost on Boxing Day in front of a big crowd.
It's club specific rather than stadium specific.

And this is what worries me about making the playoffs and not the automatic places.

Bound sure to play on the players' minds for that home leg and the fans will be dead nervous too, having seen it all before.

Can't see that we would go into the home leg with any degree of confidence. It would be a massive crowd and we'd all be half expecting them to fail.

It’s less of a meltdown and more of a confirmation of the reality that we’re treading water in the basement of English football, and no sign of it changing anytime soon.

My lad really enjoyed the 5 a side, meeting players, seeing the checkatrade trophy, photo with sky blue sam, and a day in the premium lounge. Ok the match wasn’t great but still went home happy and that’s what it’s all about.

Like has been previously said City are consistently inconsistent.

For all the Accrington’s, Port Vales and FGR games there’s been Lincoln, Notts County, Luton and Exeter.

One week world beaters the next carpet beaters.

It really is the same for most other teams in this division.

It’s getting near squeaky bum time and fans are feeling the pressure. Hence the doom and gloom around here.

All our bad performances have been punctuated by hoof ball tactics, players who are below par (fitness or attitude or both) and the opposition being ‘up’ for a game against City.

It’s up to Robins to have the balls to stop picking players who are obviously not 100% and start substituting players that don’t follow team instructions.

We have our part to play too.

Yesterday was a terrible performance, there's no avoiding that. However we're 2 points off the play offs and 6 off the autos with 15 games to go so sacking the manager, getting rid of half the squad and starting yet another rebuild seems premature.

Wonder how many L2 sides have squads that could lose Burge, Grimmer, Davies, Doyle, Jones and Andreu and not see it have a major impact? Wouldn't be surprised to find out the likes of Bayliss and McNulty are still feeling the effects of the virus going through the squad as well.

The question is are we just seeing a blip in form or is this are annual post - Xmas slump yet again?
