A lot of them on there are to stupid to understand that.

They're all to far up sisu's arse to be reasoned with.

To be fair they blame both sides. The only ones "too stupid" to understand are the ones that refuse to accept the council have had a hand in this situation, and that they share responsibility for resolving it.

If anyone is up any arsehole it is those that refuse to look at both sides of an argument, not those that do.

I think most people realise it is a complex situation where various organisations people have played a part.

Ultimately SISU own the club and have the biggest influence. Therefore. Take the lion share of the blame.

Completely agree. That doesn't mean pressure can't be applied to both sides.

Before such a protest outside the council; could you at least try and tell us what everyone is supposed to be protesting about?

We've seemingly learned today that SISU want unfettered freehold ownership of the Arena, and it's surrounding lands as a condition to return.

Given contracts already in place with ACL, Compass and the like; how can this be achieved, without any party - be that SISU, PH4 or anyone for that matter - paying a fair market value for these contracts?

Please note a complete lack of angle on my request; I just genuinely can't understand what you want the council to do.

KCIC is simple to understand. If SISU want to build their own stadium; that's fine. I just can't understand why they can't play in Coventry until such time as it's ready? Hence 'WHY'. But Knowl's proposition; what's the question or demand of the council?

Edited to add; 'is it WARRGARBL?'

All it can be is for them to SORT IT OUT. That's as far as it goes for the majority of people, so that would mean protest against the council too.
If 'The council' came out to meet everyone and said "Give us some ideas then you toerags" there wouldn't be a workable one other than "SORT IT OUT"

Which is what we all want. But none of us know how that can happen.
I won't be there because I've got better things to do, which is anything else.

The only two times our protesting has had any effect on the outside world were The March & WHY WHEN. Both occasions dropped the overiding SISU out theme and were a blinding success. More people are interested when it's not solely SISU Out.

More of that type of effort please.

As nice as the why/when protest was it's ultimately irrelevant as any protest will be. It's all down to money.
And unless any of us idiots have a massive wedge to hand over it's going to run and run and run.

Completely agree. That doesn't mean pressure can't be applied to both sides.

As I said earlier any peaceful and legal demonstration has to do our cause some good, even if it just makes us feel better than just doing nothing.

We can't make the two sides negotiate. But perhaps we can embarrass them enough into it. Even if we only achieve a short term agreement.

There's one thing we have that SISU can't control - our support and allegiance to the City of Coventry.

A club won't exist without fans.

There will be a Phoenix club when people lose patience, and I for one can't wait to screw SISU over.

Bye bye arseholes.

You should start your own forum for this new team you keep going on about. Get back to me when you've done it and I'll sign up.
Definitely.

I thought we all learned that on Sunday? There was at least one thread dedicated to Ann Lucas' appearance on the TV.

It was about a week ago in a council statement....SISU mentioned it before that.

Yup. I do have sympathy with SISU's position. I really do. The rent was too high, the access to incomes not that of our peers. Yes - all true. The flip-side being that before they arrived at the scene, large contracts worth millions were given to limited companies; that it's very, very hard to roll back now.

The frustrating but being that all of the above prevailed 5 years back; and SISU shouldn't have touched us with a barge poll, yet clearly articulated this apparent 'non viability' to us fans and the tax payers of Coventry; allowing a candid debate without all of the pain that's ensued since.

As such, I think the motto for the council protest should be characterised by the retrospective wisdom of 'YFIUYA' - You Fucked It Up Years Ago. Kinda catchy!

Having looked at gmk, people there don't seem to have seen yesterday's kcic mailout (also posted on here) which clearly sets out kcic's next step i.e. the campaign for an Independent Inquiry. That campaign is on track to be launched later this week and as it's about calling all parties to account I hope it's one that just about everyone will support. We will need support from City fans, people in Coventry and Warwickshire who may not be City fans but are concerned about the situation and fans of other clubs. I would really hope this is where people will concentrate their efforts. Having said that, I take my hat off to anyone prepared to get on and organise and do stuff but fwiw my view is we're moving beyond the 'street protest' kind of approach to bigger, targeted set-piece (?) actions

Ah, the weekend passed me by, I'm afraid. I'm running with a two-day latency, and will try and catch up as soon as I can. Has Julian Gray moved on yet?
Yes from Walsall ;-)

Come on Edgy: answer the question, please. Rather than simply limping back to GMK and posting to your sycophants: 'I'm afraid the Council's Imperial Guards have arrived and have swamped the thread. Sad times'

My question was fair, and deserves an answer, don't you think? And you criticise SBT stating we're myopic?

My view is it should be to get the two sides talking properly and proffessionally. Maybe through an independent mediator. This is something so basic that hasn't really happened yet.

nick please make a council lovers sub forum! how many times must i ask?!

these guys are so passionate about their employers, they deserve their own board.

There would only be half a dozen left on this site if he did that. Now on the other hand if he opened
a sisu lovers forum it would only last for a week at most due to total lack of interest.

Torch, you more than most should know that if a different word is used, some on here will be straight down a posters throat with "she didn't say that". And, in 6 months time, when MMM uses the actual quote, he will have to claw out official documents to prove it's what she said... It's the way these debates have run from the start, and I don't see it changing :)

So, probably better we all get used to the actual word quoted?

Because it's been done to death with no effect. Most of us where at the two meaningful protests. The march & the WHY WHEN.

Drop the attitude towards those who don't place ALL blame at SISU's door and we might start getting somewhere as a unit.

Because whether you like it or not, or whether even if its fair or not, the majority of Coventry fans do overwhelmingly blame SISU. That inconvenient fact seems to be constantly overlooked.

If anybody starts using "fettered" quite a lot then RPHunt will be getting all upset about homo-erotic taunting again.

Nobody wants that.
