From a spectating angle I love 12.30, especially when I'm driving, but from an atmosphere perspective it tends to kill it and I firmly believe it's down to lack of alcohol. For all the moans and groans about people not handling their drink etc on here (of which I'm also guilty of moaning about), we do need the pissed up eejits (of which I've also contributed to) to create the noise, uninhibited and care free.

Probably why Friday night games, particularly in the summer, usually have better atmospheres as well

I love summer games. I'd be for extending the season either at the front or end and take time out for a winter break.

I'd also remove the 4 international breaks and have all over those as a mini qualifying tournament all together in January. Ideally we finish New Years day (as I like the Christmas games), they play internationals in the month, a mini pre-season early Feb and start the league back up middle of Feb. I think it would help the pitches, which are looking a bit tired now, better recovery for the players and less stop-start.

No it won't as a) they have already confirmed there will no more changes next year than this and b) Sky don't really want more FL games, there's not an infinite demand for live coverage of Oxford vs Preston

Its not been at 3pm on the last day for years. What suddenly made you think it would be this time around? They do state that all games are subject to change. TV games after christmas can be changed up to 4 weeks before.

Of course they can. But Sky won't want to pay more for the contract already signed and the football clubs won't want more games to be shown/have more games rearranged from the normal times and dates.

Agreed. Also, when was the last time a TV deal was renegotiated/changed within the contract term? There’s also a huge amount of planning and logistics behind the scenes that will have been organised & contracted on the basis of a five year term.

So quite likely that some (or all) of our games against Hull, Burnley & Luton will be 12:30 or Friday evening.

By sterile, I assume you mean lack of atmosphere? I don’t think that stands up, you just don’t like them. The kickoff time is fairly irrelevant to the atmosphere compared with other factors, i.e. how we are playing, the tension (or not) in the game, who the opponents are and even the weather.
Fulham & Leicester were prime examples of 12:30 kickoffs with more than a bit of atmosphere.

I’ve got no skin in the game but am grown up enough to accept that Sky pay the big money and therefore have a right to influence when games are played.
Personally I prefer 3pm kickoffs for travel reasons but the notion that atmosphere is inherently worse for 12:30 kickoffs is just plain nonsense.

3pm gives a chance to hit a few bars. Sink a few jars and get in the mood for it. 12:30 is get to the ground and the game starts especially on the longer journeys.

I know many don't have a few jars before the game. But many do. I know I'm more up for it having a couple of hours preparation with the lads than walking into a stadium stone cold sober.

I don’t think it was, but there are many other examples, including Sheffield Utd and Luton this season. And did 12:30 affect the atmosphere at Oxford last week? I don’t think so.

That wasn't your argument though, you were claiming Sky would make a unilateral decision to increase the amount of games live on TV despite there being a locked in contract and their being no economic benefit for them to do so.
