Robins came out and said at end of season he’s not having players come in for a year or so, use us as a platform only to move on. They’ve got to be invested in the project.
I’d say MVE falls into that category….. robins surely could veto if a bid does come in.
not for sale etc etc.

This is the cycle we’re in. We take a chance on Yok and Hamer for about £1m. Sell on for £35m. From that we get Simms, Wright, Van Ewijk, Torp, Kitching, Rudoni for 4-5m. They will possibly be sold but you now have half a dozen assets. The cycle goes on. Even if you get to the prem that shouldn’t change.

I think I'd let him go at that price, Lati has got a higher ceiling
Stop it. 🤣

Going to need an absolutely astronomical fee for this to happen, given that if he went we have no other proper option to play there, let alone anyone of a similar calibre.

I feel the club has really changed in the last few years, before it was a revolving door but with the behind the scenes we now see (edited of course but everything is) it feels like players are here for the long run. MVE really seems to be a big part of the team and fully invested in us as a club. I'd be surprised if Doug allowed him to leave so late in this window. Next year if we don't get promoted then it's a different story.

We’re not so stupid to have a release clause of £8.6m considering how much we paid for him.
End of the day you have to do the deal that is on offer. If MvE('s agent) was instant that the only terms he would agree to required an £8.6m release clause and a few thousand handjobs it was probably still a deal worth making.

Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV are all interested in signing Coventry City's 23-year-old Dutch right-back Milan van Ewijk. (ESPN - in Dutch)

Sorry if already mentioned but some outlets reporting that MVE has been offered to clubs i.e. we are actively trying to offload…

Probs reading too much into it but were we relying on gyok going to balance the books and now need the income?

Highly doubt we are offering our best players for sale.

Not according to the fan forum at the Tavern tonight. ‘Big interest’ in Sheaf and MVE. Though I take the comments with a pinch of salt considering who said it.
He has no real ins at the club anymore, best he gets is a bit of tittle tattle from players but the ones he knew are basically gone now.

It's a sad attempt to seem relevant

Surely we can afford to sit on a small loss for a season (if that is actually the case) and then sell Sheaf and MVE next year for the right price, rather than rush them out at all costs now. We can hope Gyokeres or Hamer goes next season and if not then sell our best assets to reinvest in the squad.

Just doesn’t make sense to sell Van Ewijk now for such little profit when he’s such an important part of the team, could start for almost any team in the bottom half of the prem and he’s contracted for another 3 years.

and what if Sheaf or MVE do their ACL this season and we can't sell them.

You are on cloud cuckoo land.

More likely to mean he’s being offered around by his agent than by us

You are on cloud cuckoo land.

Firstly, I don’t think we’re talking billions of pounds worth of debt here. Secondly, are we even in debt? Thirdly, do you think Doug would have been like “oh shit I didn’t think of this, what am I going to do now I’m in a bit of debt?!”. Fourthly, what are the chances of both of them being out for a whole season? 😂

Everything would have been planned out meticulously, Doug himself can maybe afford to ride out several million over the course of a year as he owns multiple companies, the accountants on here will probably tell you there’s ways of writing loans against assets he owns etc. None of us know how much Doug does/doesn’t have but to suggest there will be absolutely no way of generating of cash from our squad if only two players miraculously get season-ending injuries is more cuckoo than me 😂
