He’s got potential but I don’t think he’s shown that much strength or trickery yet. Delighted that he’s scored two in two but he’s got a long way to go to be as effective as Wright.
He shown it in moments. That's what I mean he need to make it his game week in week out

I think that's a bit unfair. If you are going to compare anyone to Wright you will come to the same conclusion. But EMC has gone up a level and not had much game time. The last couple of games have shown what he is capable of. Not scared to run at players and gets in good positions. Rides a tackle better than Wright. Looking forward to seeing them play together.

Has a chance of a very good partnership. Lampard must like what he has seen so far.

If you are going to compare them, try comparing EMC with how Wright was after only a few games at Cov. It wasn't pretty...

I wasn’t trying to be unfair, more of a response to some of the discussion above about who should play on the left. I’m not totally clear what type of player EMC is yet, doesn’t seem to have loads of pace or skill but he is often in the right place even if he has missed a few sitters. He did also whip in one brilliant cross v Sheff U I think which was another sign. Hopefully he’ll now grow in confidence and become the player we all hoped he would be.

Technique. Strength. Right place right time. Cross on him. And can finish.

Other than that though shite.

Was a weird one yesterday! I really didn’t think we would have it in us to go and win at The Den - Although I thought the home atmosphere was nowhere near as hostile as it has been in years gone by (Maybe it’s losing a bit of it’s ‘edge’)

Although I was speaking to a Millwall fan before the game at Borough Market and he was convinced that we would beat us, so maybe there’s a sense that their good start to the season was a bit of a flash in the pan

First half was a woeful match but Millwall were there for the taking and full credit to the manager, whatever he said worked and we were well worthy of our win in the end

Great day out and result and well worth all the faffing around with cancelled trains in the morning!

Why wouldn’t we play Wright in his best position on the left

It was in response to a question as to how we could play EMC and HW together and in my opinion the only way is to have EMC on the left and HW in the middle.

HW came to us as a central striker. He and Simms both struggled when they came to us but improved greatly when they had played for a few months. In HW’s case the improvement seemed to coincide with when he was moved to the left.

Mark Robins always claimed that Simms and HW needed time to settle in. What I don’t think anyone knows is whether Wright’s improvement came about because he had settled in or because the left is his best position. It could be one or the other or a bit of both.

EMC seems to be showing signs of improvement and I think it is worth trying him and Wright in the starting line-up.

When we have opened up a gap between us and the relegation zone - as I’m sure we will - we will probably find ourselves in a dead season in which we are neither going to be promoted or relegated. That is the ideal time to experiment.

Yeah I still also think Wright could do a job through the middle.

When he started for us there it was early days, he hadn’t settled in and he hasn’t been given much of a run there since, other than late on chasing games.

I'm reassured Lampard is mostly playing people in their preferred positions. We have a big enough squad to do that, right back being the biggest shortfall.
We need a couple of quality players (CD, CM) and to offload some to balance the squad. I guess that can't be done until the summer. Although hopefully a loan or two may help in the interim.

I thought on Saturday that half the time he is trying to use his strength to run through a player, rather than trickery to get round them.

sheaf is just a poor player i think. He doesn’t have one attribute that stands out as better than others. Poor passing, poor positioning, can’t shoot, hates a tackle, takes the easy option every time

‘I’m sorry Mr Harris but you are fired’

I am really sorry about the thickos comment…please Mr Chairman…

‘Oh it’s not that, it’s the fact that you somehow didn’t manage to score past that Coventry defence with Brad fucking Collins in goal’

But Binks wasn’t even play…

‘The decision is final’

Silly season has started. Wouldn't be surprised if half the Championship sides lost their managers by the end of the season because of undue expectations.

This wasn't a sacking though probably right about the rest of the division
Isn’t “left by mutual consent” how most football sackings are described.
“We think it’s time for you to go”
”How much are you going to pay me”
”3 years full salary”
”Fair enough, I’ll get my coat”

the club have let him release a statement saying it was his decision and now is the right time "blah blah blah"

Wouldnt normally be the case on an actual sacking i dont think

Something has happened behind closed doors

Also seems odd he's staying for 2 more games!

TBH I was half expecting Robins to be gone after he was filmed “drying his eyes” to fans in a City Unseen (can’t remember which one it was though).

Is this is a managed manager change triggered by Harris failing to meet some performance target? The delay gives time for the recruitment process to conclude.

Harris was brought in to Millwall with the objective of saving them from relegation last season. I am not sure it was ever intended to be long term to be honest, it was an 18 month contract so he's roughly at the halfway point now.
