but it doesnt apper that way though, i mean were possibly losing out to the likes of rotherham for christ sake!! if we had similar or better budget why do we keep getting gazumped, thats my only moan!

Totally agree that the Championship is realising that some of the prima donners are not worth paying extortionate wages and they are looking for a bunch of fighters/mud wrestlers (1st/2nd div players)to get them up to the premiership just so that they can get the pot of gold for one season so that they can become YOYO clubs and live off the benefits of parachute paymentsRotherham are in the Championship where you instantly have £5m higher budget and FFP constraints are lesser. We have a similar or better budget compared to most teams in our league but they are signing league one players not aiming for people who have previously been on £26k a week.
Our days of being a big club have gone and Rotherham are a league higher. We shouldn't be in a position to compete with Rotherham.but it doesnt apper that way though, i mean were possibly losing out to the likes of rotherham for christ sake!! if we had similar or better budget why do we keep getting gazumped, thats my only moan!
50k PLUS whatever wages he was on ....To be fair to TM its clear he wanted to get everything done closed season & go into the new season with his squad ready to go, but he is playing with peanuts money wise!!
It must be bloody hard to get deals over the line when you simply dont have the money to compete or make it finacially attractive for these guys to sign before other clubs come in ... he most likely hasn't seen any Madison money, otherwise im sure we wouldn't be struggling to recruit the way we are.
If we sold vincelot for 50k to free up money to sign ( TM said the day before he was sold that one or two will have to go to allow us to do incoming business ) then that sums up where we are financially - 50k for one of best players!!!

Our budget is dictating what we can or cannot bring in, our defence wasn't up to it last year and from what I have seen in pre season its gotten much worse, I am sure TM hasn't just sat on his butt not trying to get people in but if his intended targets want more money etc what can we do?
We let Martin go, which to me was strange because I would have let Ricketts go and keep Martin but obviously TM works with these people day in day out. I must admit I do feel slightly twitchy at the prospect of our defence atm but hopefully now August is here the coffers have a little slack in them and we may see movement of incoming signings. TM got the highest finish in a division for many a season lets hope he can bring more of that...
If we had started badly last season and then finished strong and still achieved the same position I myself would have felt more comfortable with that but he is apparently our best manager for some time so get your asses up there and support the team...remember...plenty of asses on seats mean more money means hopefully better players means promotion (hopefully)

Not unless some rich millionaire buys us.
- £1.7m Premier League
- £324k Championship
- £70k League One
- £40k League Two
That's the thing, the defence isn't sorted.
Meanwhile we keep getting trialists for positions we don't need them.
Who's getting on their high horse about it?
I'm not just mindlessly jumping to his defence on everything, it's just innocent until proven guilty isn't it? If we get to the end of the transfer window and he hasn't built a competitive team and we're losing games, then we can start chucking toys out the pram then can't we? Similarly if we get to the end of the season and we miss out on something marginally by a few points and we get battered in the first couple of games and it wasn't worth the risk, then we can question the trade off then can't we?
But instead people are just hellbent on moaning about everything and bitching about not having any funds (even though there's no evidence of that), saying we have a relegation team already, etc etc. Just don't get it. It's likely the guys got a game plan, and is taking calculated risk by keeping the squad thin and going for quality rather than quantity, and accepting that we may have to wait longer to get the best quality.
Ideally we would have bought excellent players at the start of the transfer window, all for significant fees, beating the competition, and have a really long pre season smashing everyone and be ready way in advance. But unfortunately we're a third tier team with about 11k average attendances and no stadium, and so we need to be shrewd with our budget. Unfortunately people can't seem to wrap their little heads around that.
.I'm still confident that we'll have a much stronger squad in a couple of weeks, it's disappointing that we don't have more players through the door but the lack of emergency loans will mean there is a lot of activity across the leagues until the end of August. Not many teams will have a settled side until that's over.
Don't know they have all been called the samehaven't we only had 2 all pre season ?
It just seems like your branding every argument against this years recruitment policy on moaners and the 'sack the board' crew who are angry at the budget. It isn't as simple as that. It's alright being annoyed at people having a go, but I think it's completely plausible for people to be pretty concerned at the shape of the team lining up to face Swindon on Saturday. Innocent until proven guilty is one thing, but if you're loitering at the crime scene, you're only increasing the chances of conviction. Maybe Mowbray is holding out for better players, maybe it will pay off, but at the moment it's pretty clear that a lot of targets have been missed and that the amount of players that have been cut is making the gamble a pretty big one.

But then it begs the question if we have Reid / Jones / Spence / Lameries why we are getting trialists for those positions and not defenders?
to see if they are better than we already have ?
he may not have been offered any defenders he wanted to take a look at
People should have a look around at what else is currently happening with League One clubs.
Swindon are in a similar position and still have to bring in a number of players.
Shrewsbury were very active in the transfer market and got stuffed 4-1 in their last friendly.
Northampton have been tipped to do well but lost their last friendly 4-1 to a non-league side and ended up with Aaron Phillips playing centre-back because they have a number of injuries.
Oxford conceded 3 at Barnet with Aaron Martin giving away a penalty.
Gillingham lost 2-0 at Leyton Orient and had one of their summer signings carried off with a broken leg.
Port Vale have assembled a team of foreign players with virtually no League One experience and lost their last friendly 3-0.
I could go on and on. Lots of teams have problems at the moment, I'm still confident that we'll have a much stronger squad in a couple of weeks, it's disappointing that we don't have more players through the door but the lack of emergency loans will mean there is a lot of activity across the leagues until the end of August. How many of those teams do you expect to be top 6? Meanwhile, Bradford have just signed 6ft 2 Matt Kilgallon.
Yes, a bad example tbf. However i still dont see our great budget against the rest when we have no one in. We have cut a lot and still nothing. Just worryng thats all, i understand where we are now hence the mention of not being able to compete against a team like rotherham!! my how the mighty have fallen. You do realise Rotherham are in the league above don't you? Why would be able to have a better budget than them?
It is almost as if people don't really know much and think CCFC are completely seperate.
Yes but how much of that is down to Mowbray? I am pretty sure if we wanted to go out and sign loads of players like Fleetwood or Oldham that won't be very good or Malagas and Mansetts we could have done that too?

Surely to god though we could have had 1 or 2 more new faces in by now.
If you're a good manager you find the middle ground between getting your shit sorted, and ensuring that your shit is good enough. Missing out on so many targets was not part of the plan and not prepared for, neither was gambling on a paper thin squad now. It's just the situation we've found ourselves in, and TM's comments today well and truly reflect that.
So what happens then if the trialists are better than Jones and Reid? Do we sign them up?
yes, and sell Lamerias.
Isn't that what we have done with Vincelot, but just haven't bought the replacement in yet
But then the whole Hunt, Henderson, Ramage stuff was shocking too and people blamed the budget. Then we picked up Jones and Gadzev.
Defence should have been his priority, especially after he let Martin go.
