Just looking at the attendances and we have still averaged 15,000+ this year.

us coventry fans with out any trophy for 25 years,and no top 6 finish for 40 + must be some of the most hardened or deluded fans in the country.

you certainly can not call us glory hunters,hopefully some investors might recognise this ( maybe sisu did but then shit themselves with the economic downturn) and see with a little investment and a modicum of success( just to be near the play offs with 3 games to go),
more fans would return.

I have no doubt fans will return when the club is run like a proper club. We use to get 20+ at highfield road back in the day, the fans are out there but we get treated like shite! The board think we are idiots and I for one am sick of this. We will not even get a loan player, trust me it won't happen.

Get rid of SISU, bring in a board that we can trust long term, reduce the prices accordingly for adults and make it very cheap for kids, reinvest in the team albeit with prudence, have dialogue with supporters again and the fans will return. Sadly it will take regime change and a drop down in Leagues to achieve all of this.

The longer they stay the more damage they do. The club will be losing a whole generation of young fans who just won't want to know when it's as bad as this is. That's how we're going to go from a decent sized Championship club to just another lower-league side averaging uunder 10k gates.

And it's as bad at the other end of the age spectrum, too: my mates had a ST for 30 years, but for the first time he's seriously considering not renewing next season. And if he quits I do too as he's my lift to games!

Bang on the number. Lads my age (20) and below just don't want to know. Lads I went to school with would rather save their money and watch United and company on Sky. Now, I'm not getting into the whole Sky ruining football debate, cause I personally couldn't live without watching football and Sky lets me do that. But with CCFC being run the way it has over the last 20 years, I've seen very, very little good times.

It's like when I go to the games with my old man and his friends. They have great memories of Wembley, Premiership games and great players. I've got a win over a United reserve side, Blackburn, a few demolishings of Barnsley and players like Hutchinson (Don), Wise, Mifsud and King.......

Nice idea, but even if SISU went and we were relegated a lot of fans would return. I think some of our fans are a little deluded as they still see us as a Premiership team. And as for loyalty...mmm...I wouldn't call them that!

Actually, our average attendance at Highfield Rd rarely got above 17,000, and in 1986, the year before we won the cup, it was 13000. In fact even then it only got up to 16000. HR held under 23,000, and the only times it was full was when teams like Man U, Liverpool etc. played.
On the other hand, the first year at the Ricoh, the average attendance was 21,000. It declined slowly after that, but even now, we're getting the kind of crowds we got at HR - when we were in the Premiership.

You couldn't get that number in Highfield Road - so of course we would have been better playing it there wouldn't we?

That's not a dig at you ajsccfc, just a comment on those who think we should never have left HR

have to say, ifs that all I had to remember, I would have lost interest long ago...good on you !

I am getting by, by remembering Wembley, Dublins overhead kick on his debut at QPR, Frogatts goal v Everton, the 3-2 v Man Utd, beating Spurs at HR in the cup when we were 1-2 down, The flying Postman, Wegerle, Speedies hattick of headers, when Chris Marsden was the next Jan Molby, the Semi Final of the League cup v Forest, Whelans solo goal against Southampton, Nuddys hattrick at Anfield, Kevin Gallachers many goals etc etc....

Yes indeed when you read that post of a 20 year old you realise that they really have had bugger all out of the Sky Blues. I hang onto all of the heady days mentioned here and before that was hooked as a kid by the fabulous duo of Ferguson and Wallace. I've taken all 3 of my kids to the City numerous times over the last few years but its usually a huge anti climax for them and they enjoy the pre match pub meal more than the frustrating football and timid atmosphere.

It's called loyal support! Hardly anyone turns up to the home games (no-offence) or you ground is just way too big, but fair play to the ones who do turn up week in-week out.:p
