Mowbray out ? No chance (2 Viewers)

Lets be real here , we are 3 points off last seasons total with 12 games left , even if we had momentum now there is no guarantee that we could see out the season in the same form , so there is still EVERY chance that we can turn this around .
I have seen some supporters say Pressley had us near the playoffs and then we slumped , we have spent around a week outside the top 6 all season , again no comparison ... Not even close .
Will we make the playoffs ? Maybe not .What if we finish 9th 10th , not disastrous it's 100% progress made from last season .
The atmosphere in the ground is tragic , fans booing players when they come on cheering when they are subbed , getting on players back , no atmosphere at home anymore , but it's ok fellas , that don't bother the team or filter onto the pitch and knock their confidence or make them scared to make a mistake .
Mowbray should have the full 2 years , despite the last 10 or so matches it has been a joy to watch for 2/3 of this season so far .
Back the team , back the manager and get a grip you melts, because to call for a managers head when your 7th is absolutely shocking .

I don't agree with the minutiae, but I do agree with this, absolutely.

If it were as simple as sacking the manager, we'd have had masses of success over the years, given the amount we've done it.

Furthermore, would just like to add, TM managed to scrape a lot (8 I think?) of ugly wins at the back end of last season, with a team that wasn't his. He wants to win games the right way, not the ugly way, maybe it is stubborn, but there is no doubt about his ability as a manager. We will win more games this season.

For me he's too inflexible with no plan B at all.
his player recruitment is OK but Ramage and Hunt are dreadful in the extreme and here only because that they couldn't find any fucker else to take them, and why he hasn't brought in an experienced keeper is very questionable .
id still give him two years though but next year obviously he has to prove the doubters wrong big time ,as this could be the third time his sides have had promotion in their grips for only to implode post Xmas

Sacking TM isn't the answer. We are progressing. What we need to do is make the squad more CCFC and not try and build success with loan players. Loan players should be extra, not the whole reason.

To call for Mowbray to get the boot is ludicrous in the extreme. He has done far better than virtually all those we've had since we left the Premier League. He has had limited funds and support from the owners, but has given us a reasonable chance with a squad that is mostly quite ordinary.

Mowbray may not be Pep Guardiola, but this is Division Three and we are unlikely to find anyone better at our level. He's done better than most with his loans which has helped him, of course. Walsall have sacked their manager today - let's see where that gets them.

I fear that Mowbray will walk in the summer, and that would be a pity. There will be Championship clubs with bigger budgets who will want a change for next season and I would be pleasantly surprised if he is still here come August. Given our track record with managers, I dread to think who would replace him.

Yep agree with all of this. As you say, let`s see what happens at Walsall. They have lumbered themselves with paying out O`Driscoll as we would if Mowbray was sacked and it sounds like a desperate gamble to me.

I agree that Mowbray has made some poor signings recently and been too inflexible tactically but he got us to where we are - 7th, and should be allowed to see the job through until the end of the season. I think we owe him that.

I`m also appalled to see the name of "Sky Blue Blood" Robins being bandied about. He was only here for a short time and who can say how things would have gone if he`d stayed longer. It`s the Eric Black scenario all over again. I believe the success he had was largely based anyway on the McGoldrick factor and we have no way of knowing if he could have come up with a plan B once McG had gone. I would be interested too, to hear what the fans of Huddersfield and Scunthorpe would have to say on him as a manager.

The fans are in a quandary aren't they, we don't want yet another sacking and yes we are better now than we were 12 months ago, but sat in the stands we can all see the present team, the way it's set out to play just isn't working, we have few shots, apart from the disallowed effort Saturday I can't remember one, no corners Saturday and this has been the way for weeks. The strange decisions around MAF and Darius Henderson, signing new players then not playing them, Rose, Lorenzen, Hunt and Henderson have about an hours game time between them. Strange breed at times football managers seem to see games a lot differently to many. So when is the cut off date ? Is there one. As we stand presently I don't see a win anywhere or a goal

Agreed. I dont want to see TM gone, however something has to change. We have 3 wins and 15pts from 16 league games. Thats atrocious by any teams standards, let along one that was bound for a major promotion charge up until the Christmas period. Thats a fall from grace not a slump, he has to change something as teams have worked us out.

The fans though, some of the abuse being hailed by the fans around me on Saturday was laughable. Within minutes it was nothing but complaining, shouting and booing. I moved seats, it was pathetic.
All the people calling for change, then Lameiras starts (I was very happy about that) and immediately, every single minor error, misplaced pass was ridiculed and shouted at. We made a necessary change for the hopelessly out of form Murphy and immediately the fans are on his back. And the response to Fortune was a fucking disgrace. Lets boo him on the field really fucking loudly, thats going to make him have a good game. Thats going to get him pumped for a good performance. FFS, you wonder why theres issues on the field when thats the shit our fans give out.

On the other side of the coin though, out of nowhere the boys in the corner started some support in the last 15 minutes and kept a few songs going to try and push the team. Its about time we did that and pushed them, instead of waiting for something to sing about, as it can only help us move forward. We have got to be responsible for better the atmosphere and getting behind the team, more of that will only help us in the run in.

yeah its a bad run, yeah we can be pissed off or frustrated at him but ffs give him AT LEAST 1 full season with us!

only after 46 games can we see how he did. unfair to not give him chance to pull us out of slide.

Thing is, there are *always* alternatives, that's a given.

It's more the craziness of ripping it up and starting again, when we can blame yet another manager. The strategy's set higher than the cloub manager, he'll always have constraints.

If a slump was abnormal for us then yep, by all means get rid of the boss man but... it isn't!

Correct.....I said on a thread after last weeks defeat that I can't think of a manager who has ever won promotion in less than a full season

........we need to give him the full 46 games......if he gets us back into the top 6, then regardless of what happens in the play-offs, he should get another season.

If he cannot turn this shitty ship around & fails to get us back into the top 6, then give him his cards & lets line up the next mug manager to take us to the heady heights of 17th in league 1 next season....

To be honest we have scraped quite a lot of wins under him this season too. In fact I have had a few heart palpitations over it.

If TM is just having to deal with the same old, same old then fair enough. If this is however the best team we have had for a while and this is the poorest League One we have been in for some time, with no clear team running away with it, then that is a different matter.

It's all to do with what we have to work with and what we are up against in terms of opposition.

An unproven keeper who's played next to no games.
A choice at right back of a player on his slide due to age, an inexperienced lad playing off the back of his Dad's name, a Swedish bloke who's never played in England before now.

Centre back is the sliding old guy, two kids with limited experience, or the archetypal league one centre back... who yeovil decided wasn't worth having in the end.
Left back is a former non league player or a kid with limited experience and confidence.. or a left midfielder who's not been given a contract for 6 months prior to us.

Right midfield is a kid who's gone on loan repeatedly.
Centre mid includes a bloke with a rep as a teenager who's slid down to our level, with question marks about motivation, and a guy who's come from a side who were relegated from this division last season, or two lads who have yet to play a full season.
Even centre forward sees a kid who's yet to complete a full season in the first team... and he's our star.

All sounds like a league 1 team to me. I wonder what burtons summary would be... Probably something similar.

Have Burton got better players than us? I would say not at all.

Are Burton a much better team than us? Of course they are and without any shadow of a doubt.

That therefore points to the set up of our team and the sum of individuals not playing together as a team.

That's down to the manager, isn't it?

I think we've moved past bad run. Since going top there is only one team in the division who have done worse than us and they are rooted to the bottom of the table!

I don't think removing TM is really the correct thing to be looking at. The demise of our season for me is a lot down to bad luck with the injuries to reda and turner, and TM is correct about young boys being away from there family's early on in there careers possibly impacting in there loss of form when results started to turn against us.
With both of reda and Ben things looked solid 2 powerful players who lead the line well. Without them we've been shaky and poor. We've drafted 2 young players in that looked solid but have slipped into the poor form around them. The bulk of the team is young lads that mainly have stepped up from playing in the comfort of u21 football which is not great by all accounts. When things turn against us, (loss of reda and Ben) confidence slipped from the back, fleck and vincelot tried to protect and carry us now they have slipped.
The attacking players like Murphy who really was or catalyst in making things happen have dropped off we've left with nothing for AA to work off. Maddison don't seem to be the player he was in the opening few games, and lameires is not favoured.
With the signing of ramage, out of desperation for a cb, hunt to lift the pressure on the midfield. MAF, desperation too for attacking options really have not worked liked he'd hoped I'm sure. Joe Cole is the only real signing that's worked to a degree.
The only real thing I can fault TM for is his stubbornness to change formation over recent weeks and player selections. This year goals have dried up, apart from Crewe and bury who were little opposition. Henderson has been signed and not used very wisely. Saturday was calling for a player like him. Also this team needs a natural leader in it to drive and drag us through games.
Moving forward with TM in the summer recruitment based on this season we need 25/30 year old players who no this league and can be supplemented with some good loan players but players who have played a minimum of 5 years of regular football need to be the spine and majority of the team. Assuming we're league 1 again.

I'd say so yes. Reda although with his bad record slipped in the corner when clearing and the opposition player landed on him tearing his ligaments and turner landed badly doing his good ankle in in the run up to our festive period that's critical in any promotion challenge.
