Mowbray's view (1 Viewer)

Chatting earlier to a mate who had a conversation with Mowbray at nuneaton during which the manager asked him how he as a fan was feeling about things. The guy said he was quite concerned about the lack of bodies to which Mowbray replied however your feeling mate I'm feeling it 10 times worse!
He then went on to say they are relying on
good will, good luck, scraps and leftovers!
That's certainly put paid to my pre-season optimism

Are you sure he wasn't talking about the food in Nuneaton restaurants?

The writing's on the wall given the very low wages that we can offer.
But if we struggle this season no doubt the usual suspects will come on here claiming that it is the manager's fault.

What a load of tosh. I think you and your mate might be embarrassed by your comments in a couple of weeks

Yeah signing Jones for a decent fee and fighting off competition from numerous other clubs is relying on scraps and leftovers.

Your mate is a Billy-bullshitter.

Does anyone not think he may have said this, but totally with tongue firmly implanted in his cheek?

Surely that would be the only circumstance he would say such a thing and therefore IF he did, it must have been a joke!

I really do believe what he said unfortunately, a lot of you will know or know of this chap, he goes home and away all the time, said tony seemed really downbeat, talked to him about our limited budget with fleck situation and not being able to compete with sheff utd's wage bill which could top 8 million this season. As you can see I only view the topics normally so thought it would be of interest to everyone to read what I heard.

I just find it unbelievable that Mowbray would actually say such a thing out loud and to a supporter too.

Doesn't make sense. Why is he is still here if this is true? Why would he say something so unprofessional?

He would surely know whatever he said would do the rounds amongst supporters.

Why would his right hand man take a place on the board if the situation was so downbeat and TM was feeling so downtrodden and despondent?

Even if he did say it, given our turnover is around £4.5-5m, just because we can't compete with Sheffield uniteds alledeged £8m wage bill doesn't mean we're working on scraps and rejects. 90% of the teams in the league can't compete with that.

But I don't believe he did say it anyway.

Surely the nature of being in league one means it's good will, good luck, scraps and leftovers for pretty much every team. That doesn't mean they can't perform in this league though. Non story for me.

Players we don't want will go to the next team below us on the list. And so on.

Did the team with one of the lowest budgets not get promoted last year alongside the team with the largest?

If TM did say it what will it matter to him I can't imagine Anderson has the balls to take him on

Whether it's right or wrong mate, I get the impression he's posted in good faith TBH

Sounds a bit fishy for me, especially as TM and Venus come as a package. TMs hand must be considerably stronger with his mate now on the Board, between them they seem to have more control than any other previous appointments.

I agree I can almost guarantee this is untrue, or your friend is exaggerating things. It's derogatory to the players that TM has already signed. He's an experienced professional who will stay clear of answering questions that he doesn't want to answer when fans badger him, possibly your friend has misinterpreted what he said? Either that or you're a complete wind up merchant. Besides even is this were true, the whole league is relying on 'scraps and leftovers', we're in league one, we have one of the highest budgets in the league count yourself lucky we're not in the same boat as Port Vale/Oldham/Chesterfield

Absolutely no chance would TM say such a thing to any fan. He is a very cautious talker most of time, he would be stupid to make such comments. As soon as I see 'a mate who knows someone in the club' bullshit I tend to stop reading it. Apart from this one.
