i could be possibly be looking into this too much so dont lynch me but from reading cov mad updates for all our friendlies is it me or does it seem murphy gets beat by alot of long range shots?

could it be lack of focus as we seem to dominate most games? pre season lack or sharpness? or lack of ability? or maybe its nothing and he will be acomplished in goals

time will tell i guess,if anyone has been to the friendlies id be interested to hear your thoughts.

No difference to KW then - too many 30 yarders nestled into the corner of KW's onion bag for me so don't get too concerned yet.

If he is going to make any mistakes now its the time to do it. I'm sure he'll be fine

fair enough guys, i thought i read that he conceded from shots outside box all 4 goals we have conceded, seems i was mistaken, lets hope he comes up trumps when needed

The goal he conceded from Nuneaton wasn't outside the pen. box either......

A boss at work who is a Scunny season ticket holder has said to me that his main weakness is crosses. Great shot stopper, talks alot, but doesn't command his area as well as he should.

So just an older KW then :D

The only real weakness I noticed with K W was stopping some long range shots, he claimed the ball well on corners and was very agile pulling off point blank saves better than most

i thought westwood was good at claiming the ball

Really? Each to their own but I thought that the command of his area (and the back 4) and general ball claiming from crosses, corners were his worst attributes. I always got nervous when it was a decision between him and a CB as to who was clearing the ball and when the oppo had a corner :thinking about:

Brilliant in 1 on 1 situations and a good shot stopper though.

I don't think that was crosses. KW was good at claiming the ball. His one thing was when a defender was shadowing a ball back he was sometimes a bit indecisive but that's really picking holes!

does anyone remember the scunny home match last season!! Anyone who can deal with their woefull defence is alright in my book!! He saved them from so many own goals from dodgy awkward back passes it was untrue!!

Plus, when have we ever had a keeper competent with crosses... remember Magnus? I honestly think he'll be an ideal replacement for Westwood... there aren't many better keepers in this league at the moment!

also scunny pitch was horrendus when i last saw it,im sure saves will be easier to make without bobbling pitch lol

Don't forget that he was also ahead of Westwood as Ireland's number 2 behind Given until his injury. And considering we haven't got any money, we have got the best available.

A lot of Leeds fans would have preffered Murphy to what they got Lonergan. Only been looking on teamtalk your say, not posting, just to see if they are getting any more info on clingan.

i also think that Murphy commanded his box well last night and if he is pissed off the defenders definitely know about it

KW was great at one on one, and situations where he had time to prepare. However, long shots out of the blue, and crosses into the box always caused problems.

Give Murphy a chance!

Morning Fellas, and fellasses.
In a short few weeks, we will realise how good a keeper Westwood is,when he's not standing between the posts for us any longer.
I find it incredible, that some fans are attempting to degrade some areas of his game, he was the most complete all round keeper, with none of the alledged weaknesses, some posters are reffering to, his reaction times and superb handling, from crosses and corners was superb.
Some people have short memories, but when we look at the goals against column, at the end of next season, some will realise, just how good he was for us.
I fully expect Kieran Westwood to go on, and achieve the high level of success, that his undoubted ability deserves.
Good luck Kieran.
