Advertising is hardly desperate. If we'd have consistently done it before now we might not be in this mess.

I see they have a Full page spread in the Telegraph trying to sell tickets no mention of where the ground is i.e Northampton and even have the Gaul to put WE ARE COVENTRY on the ad........
Never remember The city doing that before during the season.. but stand to be corrected

Hopefully they are learning from their mistakes by not doing it before, and return to their rightful home there would be 10,000 tickets sold for the first game......
Marketing has been much improved under Fisher IMO. We actually have a strategy for a change. It's still very safe and uninspired but better than the nothing that preceded it.
I've seen similar ads before, but I imagine they'll step them up.
Serious question: how much do those ads cost? I cant imagine it bringing in more than 10-20 paying customers.
It is desperate though, especially in not mentioning the venue. They also do this on local radio, again with no mention of the address. Now obviously pretty much everyone in Cov at the moment will know this and resent it but what about the upcoming uptake of tens of thousands of new students in September and other visitors to the City. It's typical SISU incompetence and with a small measure of triumph and spite thrown in. 'We are Coventry' FFS, what a bunch of wankers !!

Yes you are correct with your thinking,I agree SISU would have sold more players, and gained more money. We would have still been in this mess,That is SISU.Advertising is hardly desperate. If we'd have consistently done it before now we might not be in this mess.

Advertising is an integral part of any business, I wouldn't go as far as to say SISU are desperate, but there trying to encourage more fans to attend and the longer this goes on and the advertisements persist then I think people may start to give in IMO.
Of course it'd be nice if this newfound marketing ability was being used to boost crowds of 10,000 rather than 1,000

DO you think 32000 people are posting on here then?10,000? With all the angst on here surely it would be a sell-put with people locked out of the ground unable to get tickets?

The ad I've seen (via Cov Mad site) clearly states its at Sixfields....
....and City SHOULD have been advertising for years....
I know Everton FC always launch a City-wide billboard campaign to coincide with the 30,000 odd students arriving in Liverpool in September.....
...and they are a huge club in comparison to City....

Yes it does say Sixfields but does not tell you where sixfields is could be in canley for all some people know, it says WE ARE COVENTRY Not We are Northampton. seems they are embarrassed to put an address on it. Or maybe the extra letters were to expensive for them?

Omitting killer details is certainly sneaky and counter-productive as you mention; if they want to catch out people who aren't aware we're in Northampton, those people will never get to a game in the first place.
Not sure about desperate though, the club really should be marketing itself more regularly in this manner (I'd echo the points in shmmee's post above). When everything was relatively rosy and we played at the Ricoh, there was very little publicising or attempts to attract casual fans, it was like you had to seek out the club rather than the other way round. They're doing what they should have been doing the whole time now, it's just a shame it coincides with such a mountain of shit.

Tosh,Tosh.Which part is 'tosh' - that advertising isn't desperate or that some kind advertising might have helped draw more people to watch Cov in the past?
