I don't even think it is just about Sixfields, it is people on the Hill, people travelling around the country to away games etc. I guess added up these will be the hardcore 10k that you would have had at the Ricoh.

Although one of them is blaming city moving for him not knowing his "friends" dad has died. Real close friend then.

But to be fair some friends only see each other at games due to work family commitments fact of life really.

doesn't make them less friends, just life has moved on, same for most of us I afraid.

Might as well knock me then too. Sorry I'm not a proper supporter either. I've only been going up every year since 1968, but am fast losing interest as I no longer am able to watch the team I love.

most companies employ "retention" departments, designed to persuade you to stay should you be at the point of terminating a contract / not paying them any more.

SISU do the absolute opposite, they employ Tim Fisher and Mark Labowich

I have always (all the way back to 1965 ish) thought of myself as a die hard Sky Blues fan. Hardly missed a game home or away through the 70's including many hitch hikes to remote games. I moved to Canada in 1980 but remained as loyal as possible. Kept a mail subscription to the "Pink", I phoned in and had family place the phone by the radio for a few big games. I made it back every 2 or 3 years and always planned trips around 2 or 3 games. Then along came the internet. It was like heaven for me to be able to follow live games. I had no internet at home and would drive the 13 miles to work at 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays just to follow along. Now I come in on Monday mornings, check the score and the win or loss doesn't affect my mood for the rest of the day.
I really relate to these articles and the pain of the writers. I will always be a Coventry City fan, but the passion is slipping away and I find with many rearranged fixtures I forget the game is even on and find out a few days later. I'm sure many lost souls will find theie way back if things ever return to some new kind of normal, but many will obviously and sadly be lost forever. This will be the legacy of SISU.

And who exactly are you to judge who is a "real" fan?

Oh and we wont be getting a "juicy home cup draw" as A) we don't play home games, and B) we're out of both cups anyway.

I am not a real fan. I considered myself to be one previously though.

I am visiting family today. Leaving my house in a couple of hours. We are travelling from the bottom end of the lake district to Lincolnshire. If we were playing at home today my wife would have dropped me off in Coventry and would have picked me up tonight. We have family all over N and N/E Lincolnshire including a few of our kids that have now grown up. Lincoln is only about 90 mins away from Coventry and if for some strange reason we were playing at home tomorrow we would have travelled to Coventry tomorrow morning and I would have gone to the game whilst she visited family in Coventry. If it was an away game I woiuld have got there earlier and got a coach with the lads.

But we are not playing at home. We are not playing away. We are playing in Northampton. I won't go to Northampton. So I won't be going anywhere near Coventry. Shit fan? Not bothered if you think I am. But my wife has well noticed the difference in me this season. Last season I rearranged our holiday plans so I could go away to Yeovil. Wasn't too bad. Just extended our holiday by two days. Only a 6 hour drive away . We were going that way anyway. This season we were already on holiday when the season started. My wife thought it was a bit strange as I never got a flight back to England to get a game in.

The buzz seems to have gone. Sometimes I don't even know we are playing that day. If it wasn't for this site I might have drifted away by now. If this crap goes on for many more years I will drift away. I may have grown up kids but I also have a 4 and 5 year old. I have other interests like track days with one of my cars. That is always very enjoyable. Can anyone honestly say that football is enjoyable these days whilst following our club? Yes away days can be a good laugh. Always have been. But is it enough to keep us going?

I am retiring in 14 years and 1 month when I am 60. I would have gone earlier but waiting until my youngest two are 18 and 19. My plan was to buy a massive motorhome and follow our club home and away not missing any games. Doesn't seem such a good idea at the moment. Travelling Europe seems a better Idea now.

So yes I have become a shit fan. I might come back as strong as before, but things will need to change drastically from where they are now.

I used to go to the Ricoh with my Dad, Uncle, mate and sometimes my Mum and other mates. We'd get to the Ricoh early, have a few drinks and chat watching the early kick off, watch the match and shout, scream, moan, be elated and deflated. Then we'd go back to the casino for coffee and check scores and tables before going home. I've had a season ticket since 1988 and went to all home games even when living in Leicester or Darlington. I'd consider myself a commited fan until now. I live in MK and mate lives in Lincoln so Shitfields is closer for us. But I have dragged myself there twice as I don't want to lose it...but it's literally like the village of the damned. A reserve game from Highfield Rd circa 1990 was 1,000,000 times more enjoyable. THAT is why people are losing the passion. Not a protest. THEIR club...and way of life, has been ripped away in a manner of 'deal with it'.

What on earth has happened to challenging the status quo? I have read the guys on the previous pages here and my story is similar, moved away, then farther away and don't get to many games at all nowadays. Although born and raised in Coventry I have no reason to go there at all now with the games in Northampton and I am coming to the point of view that I will not be visiting my home town any time soon.
Yes its inertia at its worst......

I feel the same. I have had 20 years (not long compared to some I know) of loyalty and dedication thrown back in my face.

I am not sure I will let the club mess with my feelings ever again.

Here we go again with the fickle fans brought it all on themselves cack. Anyone even mentioning city and the term "glory supporter" really has not been paying much attention for the last 40 years.

We have gone way past needing to worry about attendances increasing for bigger games or when on good run (a strange phenomena which only happens at CCFC). Long term "real fans" are just reaching the point where they can simply no longer be arsed with the treatment from the club and are saying enough is enough. You only have to read here, pick up a paper or just talk to your mates. It is very real and very damaging.

But hey if they didn't go to the Burton JPT game then who gives a shit - they're not worth keeping anyway right ?

To be honest the 1500 sixfields attendees are pretty insignificant to the future of the club anyway.

The future of the club is controlled by the 15k or so who are currently not attending.

your really believe that? I am with you in thinking the 1500 are irrelevant but frankly the 8500 are just as impotent, Noble gesture staying away but influencing the outcome? not happening sadly.

While I agree that Sisu will do what they want regardless of any action by anyone.

I do think that the home attendance is by far the best indicator of fan displeasure with the move.

It can't be spun, doubted, dragged through the mud, it is what it is and it shows the vast majority of fans are not happy.

So while it might not change anything, it sure as hell makes it harder to spin what is happening.

I don't believe that SISU are not influenced by the loss of income.

I also don't believe that the catastrophic (seems a fair word) loss of support won't have any impact on their plans for the future.

And after three quarters of the season it has proven totally ineffective in influencing the outcome. Of course the fans are not happy but the owners are not spinning anything. This is a clear a case of 'we dont give a damn' as you will see and we are making it easy for them.

I don't think that it was ever going to change anything in the short term.

I'm not sure why you say it has "proven totally ineffective in influencing the outcome" unless you believed that it would persuade SISU to move back to the Ricoh before the JR - which in my opinion, was never going to happen.

I have no idea what the JR outcome will be but I am sure we will never get back to the Ricoh under any circumstances unless it is in all parties interests to do so and there is not enough pressure on the owners or indeed their counterparts to do that. We know they are thick skinned, we know that they like a court case, we know that reasoned debate doesnt count for anything with them. We have no say in this whatsoever as we are not united, coordinated or even have a plan that the supporters can mobilise behind. Its pitiful really.

Or the collapse in attendances show that people dont give a damn? its how you want to spin it. fans were already losing interest and more and more are opting out of all things CCFC. I suspect if we went back to the Ricoh the attendances would not bounce back to previous levels. Cant prove it anymore than any other theory can be proven in this debacle.

Then we beg to differ.......this has and never will have anything to do with the players and I agree with you that women would have run a thousand miles had she known what was afoot in the coming years and we would surely have taken administration to the ownership of these people but we are where we are and that is Northampton and not in our home town.

My view is that not enough is being done to bring about a change in the situation. We are bystanders in our own soap opera and what has been done so far by the fans has been the very minimum I would have expected under these circumstances. Holding up placards saying why? a march on the council house, non attendance at the home games and blog after blog of what it is doing to the club and its future fan base-well how about the current fan base doing something about it?

We should be holding all parties to account for this debacle and the 17000 petitioners so far shows you that not enough people care about saving our club. We will get what we deserve in the end.

Well do you think someone is going to pay £50m+ for a football club that has a fanbase of 1500?

Without fans the club is worthless, by alienating so many fans sisu have flushed their investment down the toilet.

Totally agree with you on all points except I believe that with all the fans we can muster its still worthless. sadly imo we are doomed under the current conditions.
