I'm taking my 5 year old nephew to his first match at the Ricoh today (his first game was the pre-season match against Derby) and wondered what memories you all have of your first home game. I remember the excitement of walking through the turnstile in the corner of the East Stand and seeing the pitch for the first time... and that my great aunt who took me to all of the matches I went to as a kid had a massive bag of sweets she shared with me... but not too much about the actual football!

Hoping for a win and a few goals... the kid is very confused as half his family are Derby fans, most of his school friends are Leicester fans and my Dad has supported anyone Coventry are playing since I was about 7 in an increasing futile attempt to wind me up (I'm far more calm about such things at 33 than I was at 10). I need to make sure he follows the right path...

A win would be a big aid to achieving that.

Hope he really enjoys it. Good luck! We need all the new City fans we can get.

Kids that age love players with a fair bit of flair and skill who can get them out of their seat. Hopefully Bayliss has a stormer and Chaplin too.

All I can remember is having a Panda Pop in a pub on Gosford Street near a shop that sold army gear. Couldn't tell you who we played or anything, just remember that really clearly.

Hope that he enjoys it.

First game was a night game aga8nst Everton in 86. Blew up away but it was a great atmosphere. First away game was spurs, was in awe of the stadium and atmosphere! Hooked since!

I think it was called kit bag, unless it was renamed at a later date?

Ipswich 1992 in the family stand. The sight of the pristine pitch and all the stands blew me away. 2-2 draw, I think Chris Kiwomya scored both their goals... Ndlovu was on fire for us.

First away game was Villa in around 96 or 97.... an evening match in awful weather. We lost 2-1 with Staunton heading an own goal past Bosnich near the end to give us some hope. I rember seeing a proper ruck between about 40 guys, none of them in colours obviously, and wondering how they could tell who was City and who was Villa....

I remember that game, it was the Monday night game on sky, I got drenched in the uncovered terrace behind the goal.

Boxing day '92 against Villa, 3-0 win, my main memory is walking out in the sky blue stand and thinking the whole place was unbelievably big, the grass greener than any grass I'd ever seen before and the noise of it all. Hooked from that moment.

That sounds right. The pub was the White Lion and there was a newsagents on the corner - Janjuas? And the Paris Cinema where The Empire is now. Grew up nearby and went to St Mary’s where the new mental health centre is now.

Buy the boy a shirt (home one if theyve got any) take him to meet sky blue Sam , get him a burger and pop and make sure there's only one team for him from now on and his uncle is the greatest bloke on earth.

Mine was at home to Arsenal and we lost 2.0 and I sat in the Sky Blue Stand, it was March 1993.

I remembered feeling half excited and half scared walking up into the stand, it'd never seen so many people and heard so much noise. My old man kept it a secret we were going and we ended up walking about with all of these other people and then it dawned on me what we were going to do.

Definitely one of the best days of my life and going to watch City with my dad is still one of my favourite things to do all of these years later. He fell out of love with the game ad only started going again last season but really enjoys it now.

Definitely going to try and get one... hope they've got them in stock. We've swapped a burger for nuggets but otherwise on track!

My first game 26/3/1963 v Sunderland, won 2-1, under lights, huge crowd, fantastic atmosphere. Glad City won for you and your nephew!

Hope he enjoyed the day and the win . I was born in Walsgrave but moved to Leicester by my 5th birthday . Still grateful to this day that I got my first Sky blues kit at 3/4 so a lifetimes support was guaranteed. Hate Leicester,love Coventry PUSK.

Can't remember the year but I'm sure my first game was Oxford at home. 3-0 win and John Alridge played for Oxford.

Birmingham in the late seventies,Tommy Hutchison scored two superb goals.I still say he’s the best city player I’ve seen.

I don't quite understand how you can idolise a player yet spell his name wrong. Wouldn't disagree with the sentiment - magnificent.

Wolves at home in 1967. No surprise I’m still a season ticket holder! But man I still remember grown men crying. A bit like me at Wembley the last two years!

I reckon 1-0 today is a good start Uncle!

It was a night game for me, being so small and never experience anything like it before... Just remember how intense the light was, how green the pitch was and Highfield Road seemed huge.

mine was a mid week coca cola cup game against spurs won 3-2 after being 2 down, sat up in the stand above the west terrace hooked from there on in
