A second successive promotion took them to the Premier League and they finished this season in eighth place.

Its all too easy to be negative all the time....escpecially following this shower of shite for as many years as I have...

so a thumbs up to CC4life....we can but dream...its all we have!


Just think over recent football history & then tell me...

Did anyone see the Rangers FC implosion & demotion coming?
Did anyone see the all conquering Liverpool of the 1970s & 1980s failing to win another title for 25 years and counting?
Did anyone see Wigan, Stoke, Cardiff & Hull playing in cup finals in successive years?

...now most days I struggle to see any kind of future for our club with its current issues....but as another great footballing Jimmy once said...."Its a funny old game"

Yeah - 'firing' our best players*!!! LOL!

(*This is just a very witty play on words, but in all seriousness we very well know that Sisu will do everything they can to destroy our football club, so I wouldn't put this past them! And then they'll probably sue the players for being sacked! LOL!)

Every year I believe that new same optimism. By about mid September I am looking forward to the following year lol

Seriously though every year we as fans should believe and every club should be the same. It's like when you win you have a good night and when we lose it's a bad night. Part of football.

Just one season when we get something to cheer about come the end of the season. Please.

And they had Paul Williams as one of their main U18 coaches and Shaw is 'gutted' he's gone. Of course it's not impossible, even Leicester did it this year. We need time and patience, which for some reason most on here don't have. BUT WE WILL RETURN ------- KEEP THE FAITH

Maybe I am just drunk on the atmosphere created by this thread, but I truly believe that we are only 3-4 players (experienced) from bieng a side that can finish top six. (he ignores off field stuff and history of lack of long term planning for the time being). We really do ahve some great kids coming through - so why not!

3 or 4 players now? or 3 or 4 players after we lose 3 or 4 of our best players over the summer?

being positive we could easily be starting back in the championship in 2 and a bit years from now with 15k crowds, this isn't a strong league and we still have a good reputation if sisu leave after the JR it shouldn't be a big ask to get back to the championship.

If Sisu don't leave after the JR though I can't see anyway we aren't getting relegated next season.

3-4 now Noggin. But I accept your point. I was merely entering into the spirit of the thread. But it is a weak division (more so now that Wolves have gone), so it isn't beyond the realms of possiblity that we could go close (I have suspended reality again as I also fear the worst re players moving and SP leaving perhaps).

On the upside we've got a really smart manager (imho) and a terrific fanbase at this level. If by hook or by crook we could get back to the Ricoh, and do a bit of wheeling and dealing I think we could get out of this league without too many problems.

The Championship is a much more difficult prospect, but imagine if we had momentum in the right direction for once. Who knows, eh...

Exactly, I've quoted this many times on here before. Markus Liebherr (now deceased) pumped millions into Southampton but his former personal banker, Nicolas Cortese managing things for him as Saints Chairman. There were rumours (nothing from me incase anyone legal is reading this) that he invested into the club as his company were trying to secure mega-contracts on the South Coast. Whether this is true or not I don't know but I never heard of Liebherr winning any large contracts and in their defence, they put money into the club without seemingly taking anything out.

Like everything that goes around, I'm sure their bubble will burst at some point and it'll be interesting to see how they fair if Katherine Liebherr (Markus's daughter) leaves and sells up.

That's why our situation won't be like Southamptons. I cannot see anyone coming in and purchasing us and investing like Liebherr did at Saints.

Its unlikely that Christie will be here for the next 2 weeks, never mind years! Otherwise, entirely believable! :thinking about:

For me being positive is saying CCFC will still be in league one the season after next.
