I have been living in Torquay for a few years and only manage to endure the Ricoh experience a few times each season,(each time getting worse and more miserable than the last)

So after months of agonising,I decided to spend my money on watching another club other than my beloved sky blues

Went for a few beers around the ground thinking it was gonna be shite and realise what a traitor i was.

Yeh Yeh Yeh you,r all gonna slag me big time but what a great game of football,loved every second of it,end to end loads of singin and laughter.Just like the good old days.A few more beers walking home.

- Narrr I'm just messing with you, fair play. I watch Blackpool if cov are any further south than the Ricoh so I know what it's like. Footballs football at the end of the day regardless of where you watch it. It's better to be in a ground local to you with the atmosphere than at home listening to the radio.

As long as cov are your no1 team then it's all good.

Fair play to you. Going to the Ricoh week after week is now an unpleasureable experience. I usually come out in a bad mood and that's not what I intended of paid for. If I didn't have this years season I too would not go. This isn't the CCFC I started supporting as a kid. If we get locked into a scrappy relegation battle like last year, I'm not even going to turn up to witness it this time.
I watch my son play in a youth team on a Sunday and that's a far better experience. I'm glad your seeing some better games now !

You are a braver man than I. Being in Australia, I get up on Sunday morning in hope that Cove have produced a result that I believe/hope they can and BANG! A 2-1 loss to Notts Co! The day's gone to the shithouse in the first half hour! Oh well, there's always another Tuesday. Lose 2-1 to Brentford with the winner, a fookin' penalty, scored after 94 fookin minutes! Deep depression. Run for the hills kids, Cov have lost again.

Supporting Cov is like being a Heroin addict - you'd love to cold turkey off them, but you're always drawn back.

I live nearer to Cheltenham (and Forest Green) than Coventry. Cheltenham, a winning team built on a shoe string with gates of around 3,000. Old fashioned small ground, lots of ambience -- challenging for promotion to Div 1. Would give our toss pot of a team a run for it's money! God, I'm sooooooooooooooo tempted !

I lived in Torquay, and now in Exeter. Occasionally I will go to watch with friends as it's nice to be able to watch a game of football and not leave absolutely miserable 9 times out of 10.

The problem is supporting City is not currently an enjoyable experience. It has not been enjoyable over the past two seasons and there has been no sustained period of good results since about 2004/2005. In these circumstances who can blame fans for wanting to seek some enjoyment in other footballing ways? As long as fans don't abandon City entirely then I don't see an issue. The current players need to earn our support and they are not doing a very good of it at present.

I sometimes wish I could go to watch another club, but my heart is with Cov and I just can't do it. I live between Reading and Southampton so I have a choice. As long as I am able to travel to the Ricoh plus all the away games I will continue to follow my Sky Blues.

I have to say I have though long and hard about my beloved Sky Blues and the lack of passion I see on the pitch.
This is the first season since time began that I have not renewed my season ticket, And very glad I didn`t.
275 miles round trip, thats just for home games
22 Years living in Bury and traveling that distance !! I must have been crazy. I can go to Gigg lane and watch crap with a passion for £10
I love my home city where I was born but we are all missing the match day experience that was Highfield Road.Win , Draw or Lose it was still a great day out.
I like most will start watching local shite nearer to home ( Bury ) but CCFC IS MY FIRST AND ONLY LOVE........PUSB

Cov all day long.I could never support another team,Covs in our blood.

Just go,s to show how fed up we have all become over years of disapointment.

I really expected alot of grief but seems many are feeling the same.I,m feeling a little guilty about going last night but another destroying City loss shows I maybe made the right choice.Gotta wonder how many will come back if (when) the good times come back.Surely we have hit rock bottom now????

it is a ball ache going up to the Ricoh at the moment but we need to perservere! Yes the good times are not going to be here for a long time but lets face it thats when the club and team really need our support otherwise it could kill us completely. Yes SISU are shite but we have no option, the Hoffman rumours were clearly that only rumours! but this is a two way process they need us as much as we need them to contribute. At the moment, the fans are dwindling (apart from away games!) and SISU have brought in players this season (unlike last season) however the fact of the matter is that we have clearly brought in the wrong crop of players.

I didn't get a season ticket for the first time in ages this season, do I regret it? No! I've instead got involved with a Saturday team who remain the only undefeated team in the Coventry Alliance. We score goals for fun and play some decent football and it is a great laugh too. The Ricoh is just a giant empty vessel with no character or soul. Our fans turn up nowadays expecting to lose (which we then usually do). Last season was just awful week in-week out and the fact we are struggling in League One must be an horrendous experience to those of you who still go along.

Couldn`t agree more. Ive watched better football on the park on a wet sunday morning when most of the team are still pissed, hangovers and over weight and the only training they do is in the Pub. There passion and commitment are 100% and I would even say they would beat our present first team. Thats how bad we are and have become. ....A complete laughing stock of a so called Football Club.

I have been supporting Bath City for 5 years and am not the slightest bit interested in visiting the Ricoh. The very name makes me shudder. It epitomises all that is wrong with the club. It is soulless and depressing and I am not prepared to part with good money to travel up there for that.

I am not sure what CCFC represents any more. The club seems to have no link to the fans.

I am in the very same boat, living in the North West though. A friend of mine and his mates are regular season ticket holders for a local Prem club, theyre always asking me to go along, but have so far resisted.

I feel it is time to defer....oh and the home tickets are cheaper than the Ricoh, work that one out?

I get to only 2 or 3 games a season because I live abroad. I don't like the Ricoh Arena at all and it just makes me nostalgic for when we had a proper ground.

Still, every Cov game has been magical to me since the age of 10 (until about the 9th minute anyway nowadays, when the realisation we're still shit kicks in).

I wouldn't object in principle to going to watch another team, but see no point in it. I'd get no pleasure from watching someone else's team win. I'm not just after a day out at the football but the full Coventry immersion: unbelievably intense joy when we win (last happened for me against Portsmouth in March) and weekend ruined if we lose.

I want to go to City games and with my new job starting soon, I had planned on doing so but the question is do I want to go to a game that i wont enjoy?

I'll always be City 100% but I want to enjoy the football i see and i don't even have fun listening too it on the radio so how am i going to enjoy it when im actually there lol

The Ricoh is a soul less mausoleum. It has no atmophere, no life too it.

We had a ground like that once...shame they sold it so they could cover their own asses and build more houses

Was thinking the same myself. I'm in Cornwall and have always had a soft spot for Torquay for as long as I can remember. I'm thinking maybe its time to switch. Of course I will always be a sky blue at heart but this misery is just getting beyond a joke.

The weekday evening (morning for me) games mean my first lesson classes get the brunt of my reaction to the result; a few have even taken to seeing how CCFC are going so they can be prepared for my moods. Last season I contemplated going to watch Wellington Phoenix in the A-League. Despite the fact Cov are not doing very well, watching another team just will not have the same feeling attached - it's not like I'd be bothered if Phoenix won or lost.

I am in the same boat, I would/could never support another team but realistically every reason why anybody would support them is being eroded to such a degree that we are dying the slowest of deaths. Our support base will continue to diminish whilst we play at the ricoh but more so because we are losing so often. Their isn't any joy, any pleasure in the match day experience and for so many reasons I feel like I have lost all my love for my club and that hurts as it plays such a major part in my thoughts. I feel bitter about what has happened to my club.....

When I lived in Bewdley near Kidderminster ....... I used to regularly attend Kidderminster Harriers games Home and sometimes Away.
I visited some smashing Grounds and the Fans always seemed much more friendly .
I always looked out for City results at 5.00 pm ........ It was a lot less disappointing back then .

If the club monitor forums etc it surely has to seriously worry them the number of people saying they have all but given up. This season despite getting relegated things were supposed to get better, we were supposed to give it a good go.

Not putting blame on MR the damage was done before he came here, and he has a hell of a task to repair it.

piss poor preparation = piss poor performance .......... and we have not been prepared for this season anywhere near well enough. Just to be clear that is not singling AT out, it is aimed at the entire set up that was - from top to bottom !

I have a lot of friends that used to go regularly that have said they have all but given up, all but lost faith in the city. These people are the clubs present but more than that they determine its future by not taking their kids or grandkids to the matches. The kids dont become hooked on CCFC and find other things to do or other teams to follow, and the decline of CCFC continues.
